1500 yards of the field from hell.
1500 yards of the field from hell.
I've had the quietkat ambush now for 2 years and love it...however I have one major issue. Whenever I go into overgrown fields, the foliage and stems of the ragweeds gets caught in my cogs and alters my ability to shift. Today, I tried to get to my stand locations on public ground but the fields and overgrown with giant ragweeds. I've included a picture of the hideous plants. I took my just serviced QK and got back to my stand location but found it was so overgrown that I think even the deer gave up on the location. I'm 5'4" and the plants were easily 10 feet tall. I didn't have any issues getting back to the location 750-800 yards away, but on my way back...the stalks of the ragweed got caught in my cogs and destroyed my chain. I'm missing a few links and could only find a pretty large section of my chain. Now I have to take it back to the shop and see if I have to buy a new chain for the bike or if I can fix it with a couple of links.
My request for help is this....I have a large majority of fields that are overgrown with giant ragweed and almost impossible to go through without leaving your scent everywhere. Is there a guard that I can put on my bike that will protect my cogs and my chain as well, but still allow me to pedal?
Thanks for any help.

I was able to get to my stand 800 yards away and about a 100 yards away from the truck before my chain broke.
