Does anybody have any experience or knowledge regarding elk hunts on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in South Dakota?

You have to have a guide and permits are very limited. There are some huge bulls in that area. Melissa Bachman and her husband doubled on big archery bulls last year or the year before there. Not sure how the permit thing works.

not sure I do know as of recent, they are not letting outsiders on the reservation

Looks like there's 4 archery bull and 4 rifle bull permits issued. Highest bidders get them. Then I believe you have to hire the outfitter.

Hunted Turkeys there some years ago while on a clinical rotation with IHS. May be different for Elk, but process then for birds was buy a tag, hire a native guide and off we went...Can’t speak to the Elk numbers/quality.
