I always think its getting close when the long range weather reports start giving me their guesses on temps for September. I don't leave until the 13th but its getting serious. About to finish up dialing in my broadheads and then its time to sharpen them and my knives and go over my packing a few more times. 25 days for me and I can tell its going to be here before I know it and yet seem like it takes forever.

2 weeks from today for me. But I live close! These fires are starting to worry me. The smoke in the mountains will make hiking miserable. The whole state seems to be covered. I was in ouray this weekend and the smoke was even down there.

Putting in my base camp a week from tomorrow. If it's still this hot I won't get serious about hunting until it cools down a little. For you guys coming to CO, it's hitting mid-80s during the day at 8500'. Super dry, total campfire bans almost everywhere. Warm enough at night that we're sleeping with the windows open. Hopefully this won't be another hot September like 2018. Going to be a lot of spoiled meat on the mountain...

2018 was a weird year. The elk weren’t where they were supposed to be. I hate hunting in the heat. The elk shut down as soon as the sun comes up and don’t fire up until sundown. Makes for some long days waiting for the evening hunt.

21 days for me and my rookie hunting partner. Shooting and practice calling everyday and using ElkNut's app (great app). Chuckles and grunts are getting better. Focusing on knowing when to use what call. Crossfit 3-4 days per week. Started preparing base camp meals and organizing equipment.

I was hoping this was insider info on MSFT buying Tic Tok. Because I own a truckload of shares I am rather disappointed.

12 days for me god willing, the creek don't rise (unlikely in this drought) and heaven help us if any more fires break out.

I see Colorado governor just declared an open fire ban for the whole state for the next 30 days. I'm hoping for some rain and cooler weather but the forecast doesn't look too promising. I'm concerned there's going to be some more significant fires before this season is over.

13 days until we leave for elk camp. I was going to leave the Saturday before opener and camp at the truck and do some more scouting but my brother and kids will be here from out of state until that Monday. Plans changed so we'll head up on Tuesday and be ready for the opener.

i volunteered for a gig in CO that will last about a year and a half starting next week. the cool part is the elkwoods are only 20 minutes from the jobsite, with the rv park on the way. a quick stop, change clothes, hop on the ATV and right up the forest road i go. September 2 cant come soon enough

Taking the camper up in the morning. We’ve been in the low 90’s for way too long, but the forecast says a high of 66* for the 1st over where I hunt. I hope they’re right!!!

Today the wait really gets bad as my tag is now good. I would be legal to hunt and kill elk if I could instantly transport myself 900 miles away. :) 12 days!
Broadheads are sharp (except some backups) I'm in the best shape I've been in for at least 30 years My frozen food is all precooked and ready to go from freezer to ice chest. My gear is mostly together and just needs to be loaded in the truck. I've even got most of my work bases covered for while I'm gone. Tic Toc Tic Toc its going to be a long 12 days.
