Dall sheep hunt in pics
Wild Sheep

I was fortunate enough to be able to hunt an Alaska Dall Sheep this year in the brooks range. Lucky enough to get it done on the 3rd day, so not a lot of big story to go with it (unlike last years stone sheep, which I will attach the link to below). I’m mostly going to throw up some pics and brief diacriptiona/comments. So if anyone has specific questions ask away.

View from camp one evening.

Wow those mountains are steep! It's like the pictures are turned 90 degrees.... Seriously, other than a sore neck looking forward to the photojournal!
The weather was beautiful the whole time I was in AK!
—Jim
I really don’t take a ton of pics, so we will cut to the chase. Afternoon of the 3rd day I was able to get an arrow in one of the 2 legal rams in the group we were hunting.
—Jim
Seeing as we were a duo on Kodiak, I'm just gonna say it extended to this sheep and say I'm super pumped we got one! haha
Congrats again bud! In all seriousness, success couldn't have come to a better human being. Super proud and excited for you man!
They kinda foiled our original stalk, but we were able to spot them feeding away before they saw us. We hustled up and around and were able to kinda cut them off.
Spotted them feeding up towards us at 60 and got down in the wide open. They fed up to 20 yards (and would have been at 5 yards) when I drew. They spooked away and I guessed 40 and let fly. It drilled the biggest ram just behind the shoulder. When we saw the 4 other rams going out the other side we knew we had him laying somewhere in the bowl. Little further recovery then I expected, but not too far, maybe 200-300 yards down and around.

Awesome. Thanks for sharing. Beautiful ram. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sheep tenderloins at camp that night, hard to beat that!
—Jim
Next morning made an 8 mile pack out for pick up. Mostly downhill, so really not that bad.
—Jim
Very nice! Congratulations!
Got back to camp and rest up for 1/2 a day. But I’m still only on day 4 of a 10 day hunt in AK. I’m certainly not ready to go home!!!!!
I worked a deal to borrow/rent my guides truck to head up the Haul Road for a quick DIY caribou hunt. Bought the tag and gathered my stuff and 2-3 days worth of food from the outfitter. One of the other guides whose hunter also tagged out wanted to go, so we loaded up and headed north in the Caribou Cadillac.
—Jim
Caribou were pretty slim pickings on the trip, maybe saw almost as many musk ox!
—Jim
We did manage to scratch out 2 small (very small) bulls. My partner with a recurve and my with the trusty Hoyt. We did have a couple blown stalks and one recurve miss. But just not a lot of animals around the days we were there. It can be very hit or miss. My buddy said he say at least 3500 just 10 days before. We saw closer to 35!
—Jim
Congrats on your ram looking forward to the next adventure.
Couldn't have happened to a better guy! That was a fun filled few days of caribou hunting as well.
Sometimes you gotta cross the Sag...
—Jim
The Caribou Cadillac in all her glory!
—Jim
Gotta be the hair :) Congrats again, dude. Well done.
The beloved Caribou Cadillac headed home heavy. Well, relatively heavy, not a lot of antler weight with those bulls. But They sure eat good!
—Jim
That’s about all I’ve got guys. Thanks for at least skimming the pics this far down.
—Jim
Way to get it done Jim! Congrats!!

“The Mullet” strikes again! Beautiful ram, Jim. Congrats!

Awesome, Jim! Congratulations on a great hunt, ram and adventure!
That's an accomplishment you can remember for a lifetime! Well, done sir, very cool!!
Awesome Jim! Congrats again!
Two questions:
How long to grow the mullet? I saw you in May and there was no mullet! :)
And why in the sheep pic are there only 3 arrows in a 5 arrow quiver? :)
Way to go buddy! That's the way to get it done! Congrats on a beautiful ram and any caribou is a good one as far as I'm concerned. Great adventure cannot be beat! Keep those locks flowing, they're your good luck charm! Ha!
For your information Bake I lost one arrow in the brush hiking up the mountain.
And you guys that are worried about the party in the back, you should see the party I have going under that hat too!
—Jim
Awesome hunt. Look seeing your adventures! I wish I could talk myself into doing a similar hunt. I am just to cheap. One day!
Well done, JT. You just accomplished two "buck list" items for me. And without any pain on my side. my best, Paul
Is the raft pic just south of Happy Valley? Too bad you didn't get to hunt it during the high # years.
Way to go Treeman, that is a bad ass ram man! Thanks for sharing the pics of your success. Very nice.
Very cool I love the ram but especially like the DIY bou hunt. Very nice! Never had bou meat but heard it's really good.
Congrats man! Very nice ram! Nice add on with the caribou as well!
Great adventure! Congratulations on a very nice Ram and your bonus caribou.
I don't know how it gets any better than that. Congratulations Jim.
Beautiful ram, Jim. Congratulations!
I think I’d enjoy Jim’s company more if he was terribly exhausted from his sheep hunt and sore from head to toe, but I’m also happy he had an easy one! I’m going to have to pull out the Draino after he leaves to unclog my shower due to his locks of love!
Congrats. Very well done Jim.
Looks like An old old one
Congrats again Jim. Nick...Did you notice you don't have that problem when I come visit? :)
Just awesome man - congrats on a phenomenal ram! So, it really is that simple?!?! LOL

If I grew mine, I would look like Crusty the Clown in a month or so. Not sure what youre packin under the hat, but if it matches the curtains, don't fret the haters!! LOL

Congratulations Jim. I may have passed you on the road.
I went all the way up and only got on 3 rams under legal size and did not shoot the caribou I had in bow range.
Glad to hear you guys enjoyed it. My GF won’t as much as most of you guys! Hopefully the start to a good fall for me. Still a little hunting to do this year!
