Colorado has pushed us back to a late start - we get the pleasure of starting hunting with the rifle bear hunters on the 2nd of September. Makes it tougher on the deer bowhunters!

Not many guys posting mule deer this year. Let's move this thread back to the top!
Here's my 2020 muley buck taken last weekend on public land in Arizona. I especially liked that he had the same exact "L" shaped cheaters on each side coming off the G-3s, just like my 2017 buck (although taken far too many miles apart to be related I would think). (Update: I finally had the chance to green score him and I get almost 225 gross / 220 net, just barely shy of 30" spread). Marvin

The boy made a good shot Monday evening after a heartbreaking miss opening morning Sunday on a deer he'd put a long stalk on. He was pretty stoked when this doe came to him and offered a quartering-to shot. Short recovery, with a good blood trail, but her final delirious zigzags in the tall grass had us holding our breaths for a while.

Buck of a lifetime for me! I killed this buck on 9/4 on the North Kaibab in AZ. Amazing experience for sure. It was a 50 yard shot pass through. Green score gross 192.

Short story is I saw him on the first afternoon but didn’t get a good look at him and kept looking for other deer for 2 days before I went back to that area and found him again on day 4. And somehow he eluded me before I even got close on 2 stalks that day. Saw him day 5 and no opportunity for a stalk. Nothing on day 6 so on day 7 I got aggressive and found him bedded within 200 yards of where I was glassing. He was very good at hiding in plain sight. Stalk ended in a non fatal hit. Looked all the next day (17kms of walking) for what I allready knew. He was Just fine and gone. I made the time for a 2nd trip2 weeks later and couldn’t find any sign after 2 days glassing so I went for a long walk in 30mph winds and found him bedded in some long grass with just his rack showing. Took 10 minutes to walk right up to 25 yards in the wind and sit down and wait an hour for him stand. This time I watched him fall within sight.

Found this buck feeding in a hayfield at night and figured out where he was bedding during the day. Set up downwind of what I thought would be his travel path and he gave me a 14 yard shot.
This area seems to have quite a few 3 point bucks and this was the best one I saw. There was a 4 point that was better but the CWD in this area is pretty bad and I don't think many bucks get to old age despite it being largely private land and limited hunting pressure.
