woman killed by black bear at remote cabin in Canada. Husband wife couple kids around the cabin area and black bear sneaks in and blind sides woman while on the phone. All happened so fast and without any warning. Wow just never know about wild animals.

What a shame. She went from a conversation with her dad, to a gurgling sound.....no screams or anything. I wonder if it grabbed her by the throat.

Had an older Blue Berry picker killed by a bear in July. Just South of Red Lake. When police went to check on his well being, there was a bear hovering over the deceased man. They shot the bear.

Very sad indeed. I would think a couple dogs around would keep people alerted to bears? I like having my dog watch after my kids.

Very sad to hear, and I hope the kids didn't have to witness that. I'm always amazed that when people go into the wilds they do so without any protection of the possibilities of having to defend themselves. I dont walk into the woods without a weapon, it just common sense, or should be.
