I got some pics of a a pretty decent mule deer while I was on a cow elk depredation hunt. I'm curious as to what muley hunters think he'd score.... I'm a whitetail guy.

Beautiful deer. The front on pic is best for scoring this deer. I never trust judging mule deer from behind as they always look BIG going away. I’m not the best at scoring Muleys but have been around a lot of nice deer. He is probably 173” plus or minus 5”.

Nice deep forks, decent width, pretty heavy. I'm with TurboT, maybe in that mid-170 range.

I'm thinking mid 180's.

Since his antlers "tip" toward the inside it could be a bit deceiving how long those tines are, especially on the back forks. A couple extra inches on each of those could bump his score into the 180s or so. In any case, he's definitely big enough that I'd be shooting first and figuring out score later with a tape measure.

180-ish. Great fronts, average rears, good mass, and narrow spread.
I'd stick him.

Greg, Treeline and Grey Ghost are definitely in the right area. He’s definitely in the 180”s. I can easily see see him grossing in 190”s

Here's a helpful tool. You can use 10-11" as the distance from the pedicle to the end of the nose. When you have pics it gives you a ruler to measure with.

IMO...he might gross 175-180ish....maybe. The thick velvet plays tricks on your judgment, causes a halo effect and makes him look much bigger than what he is.

Mid 80’s I think deep forks high 4’s

Velvet only adds visually to mass which in reality gives little to nothing anybody who has scored anything knows. Mass while looking impressive gives shit to score it’s all in length. And this buck has good deep forks.

I agree with whipranger. Going with upper 180s.

That buck is well north of “170’s”!

Wouldn't be surprised if he green scored 190 gross. Those taller bucks with mass generally score well and are usually the ones I actually under estimate. Very nice looking buck.

Buck for comparison. This buck scores 178 2/8. I would guess the buck in the pix is a low 170's range.

This buck is 187” and built similar to the buck in question high and not very wide. The buck in question appears to be taller and better front forks

Chuk.....I concur....your example is exactly why I think you're 170's guess is in the ballpark. I have a similar muley that grossed 179 or 189 I think it was....I'd have to look to be sure....but ya, I agree with you.

Check out Danny Farris's 200" buck in the last Bowhunter. Similar shape and frame, tall and narrow.

He’s gonna gross in the 190’s. Has the beam, tine, and forks to cover that mark. A few deductions side to side and he will finish in the 180’s. Shooter buck.

Would really like to know how many of the guys discounting whipranger’s call on that buck have held or scored 1/100th of the bucks over 180 inches in their hands that he has... They would certainly be considered experts if any such exist....
