Didn't see a new thread so thought I'd start it! Shot this guy about an hour after daylight today! Today was our opener. I dont have the best pics but hes a heavy and narrow 6x7 in full velvet.
Dandy buck! That's going to be awfully hard for anyone else to top.
Awesome start! We need more pics of that buck...
Congratulations Tanner!!! Great buck!

Congratulations guys. Looks like some nice bucks hitting the ground in NE so far.

Great start for the NE wt hunters!
Another Nebraska buck! Haven’t stuck one for a couple years, feels good to be back on the board.
Congrats to all. Some great looking bucks!
A pile of GREAT bucks! Congratulations guys!
Have yet to shoot a whitetail in velvet, unless you count Coues. Looking like those Midwest bucks strip earlier than mule deer though. May have to add that to the list...
Congrats to all. Some great looking bucks!
Wyoming Sept 3rd. I went in search of mule deer and ended up with this whitetail. It's the earliest I've ever taken a WT. Another first was that the game warden saw our flashlights on the mountain, checked our tags, and gutted my deer for me. He let me hang it at his house also. Nice guy. Great time.
Nice deer all... can't wait for October 1st in WNY!
Eastern MT has been good again! He’s not the biggest but couldn’t pass at 20 yds.! He was down in 40
Noah's first buck (13 years old) September 10, Manitoba. Shot was 12 yards, double lung. He was pulling 51 pounds and used a Snyper 125 gr. He got a complete pass through, all captured on film. I wish Rage would go back to the Snyper design.
Some great bucks so far!!!
Great job, Noah!!!! Can't wait to watch your video! Have enjoyed the bear and doe you took on video - great job to your Dad as well. Pete
Noah strikes again!! Congrats on your buck!
Southern Delaware buck had him two days on camera in July, was making a push on a older buck I had been watching during week found a tree to get in with saddle well old buck was in back of farm and this guy showed back up with a young mass monster buck I hope makes it another year.
Morning hunt in North Dakota near my homestead on the river.
Doe patrol, gotta refill the freezer. That’s exit hole, she went about 100 feet
Doe patrol, gotta refill the freezer. That’s exit hole, she went about 100 feet
Bigs,, is that exit from a hatchet or a rage?
Schwacker. Lol. They’re lethal on these smaller Florida deer.
NC buck I took yesterday at 14 yards. Iron Will did the job in 52 yards.
My son took the “elk buck” with his new Mathews last night.
MQQSE, I bet that buck could be lethal in a fight with another buck!
Some dandies. Congrats all.
Not my biggest, but having my daughter in the blind with me will make this a lifetime memory for sure!
hunting with my son for the first time in 5 years...of course he makes the perfect shot on the first hunt. Eastern Montana WT

Great bucks everyone. Gets me fired up, Tennessee opens tomorrow.
Congrats everyone - Think I am moving from NJ to Nebraska!
My son, JD, shot his first deer ever with the bow. He was all smiles as was his father. Feeding on acorns he gave him a nice 20 yard shot and he put it right where he wanted with his Craze that he’s been shooting since he was six.
Second Nebraska buck of the season, this one from the ground!
Congrats JD! Same to you Zach!
First sit of the year here in Ohio! Done here for the year, headed to Kentucky for the rut.
Got lucky this morning and filled my second buck tag. Now have to try to fill the freezer with some does!
Got this Nebraska buck right behind my house so I figured I would include the girls in the picture.

My son Jack arrowed this buck on Oct. 4th.
My daughter got her first deer yesterday evening. One of her younger sisters was in the stand with us.
Here’s a pic where she’s not washed out. Shot was a little low but got the bottom of the heart and stopped in the offside hide. Roughly 100 yard trail that Stevie Wonder could follow.
Congrats Link! That's one to remember!
My daughter has hunted her butt off and with her third hip surgery keeping her out of cross country she has had extra time in the stand. It all came together for her and she made a perfect shot on a great buck. She was pretty proud!
How great is that! Congrats to the young bowhunters! Smiles say it all!
Great hunt in North Dakota,
My son killed his best bow buck to date yesterday evening. We have a stand just down the road from our house. It can only be hunted with a northerly wind and he has been patient. Wind was right so after school he went hunting.
I got the call just after sundown that he had shot a buck and watched it fall.
His first deer with his new bow also!!!
Grats to all the successful hunters, especially the young ones. It's great to see.
Congratulations everyone. Some great stories here, especially the youngsters. Thanks to all of you parents for getting them involved!
Nice buck Troy. I like that second picture with sun hitting the corn.
Congrats Troy!!! What a beauty! You earned him
T-Roy i would have shot that one too if I had a land owners tag:) Ha Ha, I would shoot that sucker on opening morning with my only tag. Congrats man, you seem to have this whole bowhunting thing figured out.
I want T-Roy to adopt me i think.
Great buck T-Roy! Well deserved for sure.
Great buck Troy! He’s a beauty!
Nice buck Troy. How much did he weigh? I shot this one 10/3, and he field dressed over 215 lbs.
Wow nice bucks T-roy and Franzen! That is not easy to do in early October. Congrats!
Great deer guys!
My Vermont buck. My daughter helped greatly with the tracking job!
Thanks for the kind words, guys. Congrats on your buck as well, Cory! My buck weighed 208 dressed. Sure had lots of ticks on him, too!
Congrats! Nice Buck t-roy! Hope to get out here soon to chase Colorado Whitetails!
Great bucks, congrats to all of you. Link...I love your pics!
Heckuva buck Troy, and great pics, congrats man
Big Mature Doe with the Selfbow
Congrats to all! I've always said they are all special trophies with a bow. Troy, that's a dandy! Way to go.
NJ 7 point from yesterday morning.
Holy cow, Basinboy! That doe looks huge! Any idea what she weighed?
Finally got some cooler weather. Seemed to help get the deer moving.
My 12 year old granddaughter killed her first deer with her bow. 15 yd shot.
Thanks. She built up to38 lbs pull. So we gave it a try. She was patient and made a good shot. Great times!
The Mailman’s granddaughter delivered! Way to go, little lady! That smile says it all!
Broke my new Prime Black 1 in on the N Michigan 8 point Tuesday night. Been passing many bucks in the last 8 years and decided to end that streak. 150 gr single bevel Cutthroat, he ran 25 yards and then walked 35 more, stood there for a few seconds and fell over in sight!
Congrats guys! Some nice bucks in October. None better than mailman’s granddaughter. Way to go!
This yote got too close.....
This yote got too close.....
I like seeing the young folks and trad guys getting it done! So far....took 3 shots and made two kills and one whiff.
Shot this one this morning. Split brows so he's a 12.
My daughters first archery buck!! Se Mn. 10-21-20
Crazy to see the “snow” pics in the third week of October!....congrats!
Congrats everyone on some beautiful deer, especially the kiddos!
MI forky 10/25 That sled is awesome for long drags. Sorry about the tongue.
Yup. It's great seeing all the young hunters and the first deer.
When I wake up and mumble to myself “another day, another dollar,” somehow I picture T-Roy a thousand miles south mumbling to himself, “another week, another booner.”
Wouldn’t it be “another day, another loonie” up there, M Paul’s? ;-)
Wow Troy!! Beautiful buck again! I don't even see those let alone get one. Not willing to root for the Hawkeyes to get one though! Congrats on your success.
Awesome deer T-Roy and congrats to all the kids! well done
Way to get it done with the traditional gear, Randy! Congrats.
Good job RD. Winter down there too it looks like.
Can you imagine being on a world wide forum and shooting like the type two biggest whitetails? Sheesh!! Congrats to all though
Another whitetail for the 'pole. Indiana 10/27.
Great deer everybody, congrats!
Some amazing animals. Just heating up now
Here's meat and a pole. They showed up in my yard just now before start of the Vikings game. So of course I'll head 85 miles north to the shack Friday for the Saturday rifle opener!
Shazam! 9:07am 11-1-2020, SE Oklahoma. A doe was his demise.
Congrats everybody. Some beautiful deer here! Reckon theres more to come
This guy came in at about 4:30 Friday afternoon. Public land Sawyer County WI.
Some great deer hitting the ground keep the pictures coming.
Second trip to South Dakota, this time with my dad along. Multiple mishaps with muleys made it all the sweeter when was able to punch my tag on this whitetail.
Great buck, Zach! You sure have been stackin em up this year! Your dad should have let you know that you had some dirt on your upper lip before you took the picture ;-)
t-roy, he and his buddies are growing mustaches for no shave November. Pretty weak! lol
T-Roy, as my dad said, my hunting buddies and I decided to grow a “rut stache”, after this season I’m starting to think it should become a tradition. It works wonders at keeping the ladies away so they don’t interfere with our hunting
Zac if the goal is to keep the ladies away, don't let it turn into a handlebar mustache. I have grown one that is ineffable and it has become a pain in the ass keeping the ladies away. ;)
You’re wise beyond your years, Zach!! Next level thinking, for sure!
John.....Have you tried NoseJammer?!
t-roy, lets see top of your head! Jealous?
zab, keep the ladies away?? What your Dad teaching you? I'd like to know how to attract them! Tried the puppy deal but it soon became a dog.
T-roy you think it is my pheromones instead of the handlebar mustache?
Damn nice buck Zach! Congrats!

Since Zackman killed my #1 buck opening weekend, I had to settle for my #3 a couple nights ago. (#2 disappeared after harvest) I put in a ton of hours since the Labor Day weekend opener and it finally came together a couple nights ago. Congrats everyone. Some great bucks here.
Congrats everyone.
Thought I would post a sled pics too. These things are awesome especially when you use with an ATV.
Another one in the sled.

November 3 illinois 6+ yr old buck we have been after the last few yrs
Shot November 5th in central Pennsylvania. Recovered him the next morning. He was chasing a doe on top of the mountain above my treestand. She bailed off the side right down under my tree. He was grunting so loud and running so hard I yelled, “Hey!” to stop him at 5 yards, then proceeded to shoot right over his back. He ran directly underneath my stand then stopped 11 yards below me, trying to relocate the doe. I got a second arrow and put it up through the ribs and out in front of his shoulder on the same side. Single lung hit. He was still alive when I climbed down after dark and started on the trail so I backed out and found him at first light the next morning.

Fun week hunting with my Dad. He killed one of his top best bucks and I accomplished a goal I set a few years ago to kill a buck with my recurve. My first kill with the stick. Fun hunt!
Kansas 11/5/20....COVID defiantly kills I was on my quarantine time for a positive COVID test thought what better way to avoid people than in a treestand!
First buck after moving down to Georgia.
Dang, all these great whitetails make me want to hunt whitetails again. Been a lot of years...
Sometimes you have one of those days...And then sometimes you have one of THOSE days.

Nebraska Nov. 12. Last morning of my 7 day hunt.
Wow! Lots of awesome bucks. Congrats to my home boys Shiras & Beav!!! And Zabwelch, how about that kid! Dad taught him very well.
11/14 11am. He was walking out of my life and a snort weeze made him circle back. 39yds. Heart shot, watched him tip over after 50yds. Vortex 125 steel.
Big congrats Dave B, blows my mind how folks don't understand the power of the snort wheeze.
It can work great with the right buck, but it can also blow them outta the county, too. I definitely like using it, but have had negative reactions to it as well. Congrats Dave!
Just a fella with a stick, a string, and a little bit of luck. Now get off my lawn! :)
Justin, I ‘liked’ it on Instagram and I like it here. Looks like a lotta meat on that dude.
We need a side view of that guy, Justin. Way to get it done with the trad gear. Congrats again, buddy!
I didn’t get a real good side view pic with the self timer unfortunately. Here’s the best side view pic I got with my phone that shows the cool palmation and extra point in there!
Nov 12th evening. Rattle grunt and decoy to 23 yards. Let the good times roll.
Justin- congrats with the Uber trad slay!! Cool buck!
Good job to everybody; well done, APauls . Dave B beautiful buck. Justin, crazy mass on that buck, congratulations. You guys are killing me... but that is a good thing..

Harvested my 2nd buck of the season last week. Came in at 20 and forgot to pull my facemask down to hit my anchor points and thought I'd be alright. I was wrong... I gut shot him bad. He ended up running out into the crp and I watched him for 10 mins and decided I needed to make something happen. I ranged him and made sure I hit my anchors and let one fly. Double lunged him at 90 and fell over after 50 yrds. This buck was still in velvet the first week of October, not sure what was wrong with him but he did have little nuts. He wasnt rutting, and still had some velvet on him.
Congrats to all so far!
Got lucky on a nice farm-country buck on Saturday in Iowa.
This one sports a trophy-class neck ;-)
Michigan Nov. 10 at 3:30 in the afternoon 72 degrees.

This is one the more impressive meatpoles I have seen in a while. Especially for whitetails.
This thread always makes me miss the L48 in November, some fantastic critters and memories for many on here, congrats to all of you!
Congratulations everyone! This helps to prolong the season. So fun to see all the pictures and thanks for those who take the time to share the story.
I had one tag and was holding out for a nice buck. My wife was crying a little in the morning when I left to go hunt for a few more days as the kids were really stressing her out and I had been gone hunting the last week. I got in the stand in a new spot and told myself I would shoot the first deer that gave me a shot. So of course a nice 10 point came by trailing a doe. They spent 20 minutes near me with no shots. Eventually he chased her around and she stopped 20 yards broadside and he was out of range. I decided to keep my word fearing I might not get a shot at him and I knew I needed to be done hunting to get back home. She ran 20 or 30 yards and piled up. The buck then proceeded to walk around looking at her. ..broadside. he was then joined by another buck......i will admit that really sucked, but my kids were excited when I got home and my wife was happy I am done for the season.
happy wife happy life ryan. 3 boys will break a good mom from time to time:) Good call and congrats.
Awesome deer. Tons of them. Lots of great trad kills too. Nice work to all!

2020 Alberta Buck - 158"
2020 Alberta Buck - 158"
This is my 2020 Alberta OTC DIY buck. We were after this buck in 2019 but never put it together. I had this buck at 17 yards on Nov 6th but I had the wrong window open on my blind. Trying to get the window open, he busted me and took off. When his doe brought him past me on Nov 15th I made sure to capacitive on it. This is my best typical white tail come in at 158"
Taken by my sons friend on my farm in northeast Ohio. It is not one of the big ones we"ve been after. My adult son has developed Covid and is down as well as my elderly parents. So my hunting has had the legs cut out from under it - more important things right now. My dad is 86, hospitalized and fighting like crazy, and my mom is home alone and sick with it herself.
you could put a saddle on that thing lol, nice buck, prayers to you and yours

Nice buck Tembow, he's a brute!
OK Tembow have to ask. What is this hush cover you are advertising here and on the CO forum? Was that buck wearing that thing when you shot him? I'm confused.
FYI, put the tag on the carcass not the antler.

Awesome buck SteveB! Incredible!
I’ve been gone from this site for many years. Thought I’d jump back on and check things out. The move to Iowa in 2013 has been good.
Congratulations to your daughter Link!
Posted my Kansas buck on the Colorado Forum earlier, but now ready to cut this buck up and put him in the freezer...maybe--what do you think about eating the meat with the head so infected? The buck was alert and on the prowl for does, and I had no idea he had this arrow from another bowhunter broken off in his forehead--penetrated his right eye socket, and embedded in the skull bones by his inner ear. To eat or not to eat, that is the question??
The buck looked and acted normal, but the hair had fallen out around the wound between his eyes. There was another pocket of infection above his right eye socket that was gruesome so wondering if the meat will be affected? We ate the fresh tenderloins and survived, but I have to admit we were a tad squeamish with every bite!
I would say if ya ate the the tenderloins than the rest should be fine. How does it smell, if normaql looking and smelling I would eat it!! Shawn
The meat smells normal, the head did not! Thanks for the encouragement Shawn--that you would eat it! Grilled backstrap will be ready at 6 pm mountain time!
That’s crazy, Kris! That that would make an incredible euro mount! Congrats!
Dec. 16th I ended a 4 year quest, not entirely the way I had envisioned, but thankful nevertheless.
Story forthcoming....
SaddleReaper that's my worst nightmare during the late season. My luck it would be a world record typical when I shot it and a shed buck when I found it. On the bright side I think here in iowa you could legally put an antlerless tag on it and keep buck hunting.
Scrappy... I have an attorney friend that shot a giant 10 point late December around 1999. This was in NW Oklahoma when that area of the state was booming with large deer. He shot the buck and the buck took off down a hedgerow of cedars and boidarc trees. Shot was perfect.
When he went to retrieve the buck, he found one side of the bucks antlers on the blood trail. Another 50 yards and the buck was laying there dead. The buck would’ve scored in the low 190’s, typical.
Saddlereaper, look forward to your story.
Very cool that you’ve got so much of a history with that buck, saddle!
This doe stomped at me one too many times, last night.
