Is there any benefit to leaving a full skull or is there no difference if you just skull cap the animal?

I have thought in the past that leaving the whole skull intact especially on large heads like Moose would keep them from shrinking in spread as there would be more bone to keep them from curling inward. But now know this does not make any difference as long as the skull cap is not cut really thin.

I have green scored heads with skull intact and later officially scored them and have also green score them and officially scored them with just the skull cap and the shrinkage is pretty much the same either way.

Any other thoughts?

I didn't realize it was that much Charlie, so I'll keep the skull intact. :)

I think there would be less chance of the skull breaking if it was fully intact. I've had two skulls caps break on horn mounts.
