My 3D deer is getting molested!

It’s happened 4 times in the last 10 days! After the second time, a buddy suggested setting up a trailcam to try to catch the culprit.

I assumed it was the nice 8 point I watched chasing and scent checking 2 doe last Saturday while doing yard work. So I set the deer target back up and the next morning I look out and see this:

I checked the SD card and was surprised to see this little buck mounting my target!(I had it set on video)
I guess he isn’t having much luck with the LIVE doe! ;-)

My cousin uses his 3D target as a decoy at one of his hunting spots. A few nights ago he sent me videos of 3 different bucks attempting to breed it. The look on the buck's faces when the decoy topples over and splits in half is priceless.
The old saying, "young, dumb, and full of ***" certainly applies.

I had a 3-D deer target in my yard. I'm a good mile from any substantial cover. Came out of the house the other morning and the target was on the ground, and we'd had some wind the night before. I was surprised though as I had it staked with long rebar and reinforced, and it has withstood some serious wind.
Went down to it, and it was broken off. Deer tracks surrounded it. Wish I'd had a camera on it :)

At one time I had several 3D targets set up in the woods behind my house. It was great fun for several of us to walk the woods and shoot them coming and going. I learned the first year to remove them before bow season after I wound up with a broken legged buck and a headless buck. :-)

You know, 99% of us would never consider using one of those blow-up dolls, but if you came home and one was on your bed - I mean, it's right there. Maybe that's what these bucks think, it doesn't look quite right, but nobody else is watching, why not give it a go?
