Looks like someone shot a grizzly bear in WY. I'm wondering if it was a resident or native American. Remember Grizzly Bear Lives Matter. Offering a $2G reward for information.

This is probably the first grizzly killed in WY since the 70s. :)

Maybe it identified as a black bear?

The comments below the article are telling.

Maybe just poached or maybe self defense and the shooter opted out of the hassle involved with reporting it.

"The FWS said the grizzly, which is classified as threatened in the state"

threatened - lol .... there are plenty of grizzly bears. Not in the lower 48 but they are not a threatened species

“Offering a $2G reward for information.”

Hmmm what’s $2,000 these days. Apparently not that rare or valuable. That should be 20,000 or even 200,000, come on this is a precious grizzle bear that has been so brutally murdered on the tranquil Mountain . Where are save the bear activist now. Ante up.

Guess they didn't have a big enough shovel........

2 grand but they’ll spend 2 mil in legal fees to file lawsuits to stop hunting and put an end to winter feed grounds in Wyoming.

Bowfreak, your comment had me laughing out loud.

Well if they would just recover the bullet and read the serial number on it they will find the killer. Oops, serial numbers on bullets isnt here YET, but it's Coming.

Yes and my favorite comment:

Chuck Norris has a grizzly bear carpet in his room.. It's not dead, It's just afraid to move.

I imagine this happens more often then we ever know.

I'd bet money it was a Native, due to the location.

I had to laugh at some of the ignorant indignation of the comments, same folks that get upset when the cops arrest a child molester...

WY just got safer, IMO.

The Indians don’t seem to go after bears. At least the ones I’ve been around.

Gluten by I'd have to check but it seems to me they kill quite a few more that a dozen. I believe I read something to the effect that they killed around 60 in 2019 alone. I'll have to find the report.

From: Quinn @work

Rgiesey, the Indians probably don't often poach grizzlies but the 20 dead elk found in the area is right up their alley. Maybe the grizzly was trying to feed on the big bull elk they were trying to cut the head off of?

Sounds like it was on the res? I was under the impression Natives frowned on killing bears.

Maybe someone shot it in self defense and just kept their mouth shut to avoid the inquisition. I've heard the feds get mighty unruly about it if you don't have claw marks on you.

What is the definition of "removals"?

From: Keith
23-Dec-20
Also, what is the cost to the state for each capture and/or removal?

From: Rupe
24-Dec-20
$2000 is more than what the Democrats want to give American taxpayers

From: Glunt@work
24-Dec-20
Removal means killed. No idea what the cost per grizzly is to relocate or kill but WY spends a couple million a year on grizzly management. With the population doing well, they have less places to relocate problem bears to. Thats part of the reason for "removals" increasing.
