I use different heads for different hunts. No matter which broadhead I am using (mechanicals included) I sharpen each before use. I view sharpening as an important part of the hunt.

The old US made NAP Spitfires were great out of the pack, sharp and very tough to boot. The new ones made off shore are not as sharp and I believe have poorer quality steel in the blades that don't hold up to bone as well.

Kurt I shot a doe this year with the new NAP mechanicals quartering away both lungs and blasted right threw her far side shoulder. I was on the ground and she was only about 14 yards away but the mechanical seemed to hold up quite well!

MA-PA, My basis is a couple new ones that I shot (and killed) with this year that seemed to suffer more blade edge damage than the old style. And they definitely aren't as sharp out of the pack. On the plus side, they spin great and I consider them useable with a touch of sharpening.

I was playing with them when I got them and damn near sliced my finger off. Forgot the model. I’ll check it

After one year check your mechanical heads or any head for that matter and see how dull they are?! It’s crazy how bad they get even just sitting in a box. Rages were useless with the exposed blades, oxidization or something?

I just ordered a leather stroup with green compound, I'm hoping that will atleast bring them back to what they were fresh off the shelf... I should just switch to a different broadhead but it will make me sick not to put these STEELHEADS to use with the amount of money I have spent buying them up
