What a difference a year makes, from last season to this season. Last season I had to beat the geese off and killed 17 geese and the best day was a limit of five, but this year is a very different story. While there was a few local Yard Hoppers in the area earlier when there was still some green grass in the pasture and surrounding properties, that has changed drastically in the past week or so. The lack of moisture and the very dry conditions have caused the geese to go elsewhere.
I do see 200-300 geese in the morning coming off the big lake but they just fly over for a better place to feed.
Oh well, I did kill two geese, missed two. Jerry got his first goose with the bow and missed one that same day. So we might have killed 6 geese but got three. Ha, better than none and we got to going bow hunting without much effort.
And the STAR of the hunt, Chaser the wonder dog always has a good time, treats or not. The season ends on Feb. 14 so I might leave the blind up until then and give it one or two more tries, but I do not see much changing.

If it was only about the kill, bowhunting would be a pretty boring activity for most. Only disappointment in this thread is there is not a picture of Chase!

Know where I would shed hunt.At least this year you don't have to clean as many or try to find some way to eat them

Paul - As always, really enjoyed the Yard Hopper threads. It won't be long until it's time to hunt Turkeys!

I hope you have better luck Paul, and whatever you do if you get a shot don't miss one on the 14th if you know what I mean. Chase might get upset.

Hey Kurt, I do know what you mean; the great thing about a good hunting dog, they are just loving and hardly get upset.

Give it another shot, Paul. (Chase told me to tell you that!) We're picking up our new 8 week old yellow "Chase" on Wednesday.
