Starting in 2021, a successfull hunter for wolf will have to apply for a "CITIES" permit before they leave home in order to take the trophy back into the states. Buy your hunting license on line before applying for your "CITIES". Then apply for your "CITIES".... can apply for both license and "CITIES" before you leave your home. Give lots of time to receive permits.

Bear hunters from the US do not need a "CITIES" for their Bears if travelling private vehicle. All other countries require a Bear hunter to get a "CITIES" before their Bear hunt or can apply for a "CITIES" while in Canada, but will have to wait 21 working days.

Ontario was one of the only provinces left where you could apply and receive your "CITIES" in person and within a few minutes. They say they are streamlining the "CITIES" with the other provinces.

Or you can get our Taxidermist to prepare your wolf or bear and he will do all the permits for you when he ships finished trophy over the border.

Wonderful I wonder if people driving across Canada from Alaska will have to deal with wolves coming through.

Sounds like just a way to make it more difficult for hunters to legally bring their trophies home...................................trying to discourage hunting! : (

What is CITES you may ask?

Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES)

CITES is a multilateral treaty to protect endangered plants and animals. It was drafted as a result of a resolution adopted in 1963 at a meeting of members of the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The convention was opened for signature in 1973 and CITES entered into force on 1 July 1975. Wikipedia

CITES protects these species from being excessively traded and exploited illegally and unsustainably in the wild as their extinction would have irreversible ecological consequences and negative economic and social effects.

Thank you for your support and compliance to CITES!

I have collected two CITES tags one for wolf and one for bobcat, should go to Canada and get a bear CITES tag and have a trifecta of CITES tags.

Be nice if the political nonsense would change so that US persons could get issued a permit for those big white bears again.

Manitoba u don’t need cities if u bring your fresh bear back with u driving or flying.

don't all provinces allow green hides through with just the tag? Cites for finished work?

The permitting process to drive alaska to canada to the us with cities animals costs a lot. You have to get a permit to get into CA and another permit for CA to US. Its way easier/cheaper to mail

US citizens do not need a CITIES for bear unless accompanied by organs or bones ie: swizzle stick if detached from hide.. . All other countries need a CITIES.

A finished bear rug or full mount needs a CITIES. Taxidermist acquires those permits to get into states.

Here is the number you can phone to get an application for CITIES Permit. 1-855-869-8670 or email at [email protected]. Apply well in advance of your hunt.... to take a wolf / bear out of Ontario, you would still need an Ontario export permit.

Update from Ontario Ministry Of Natural Resources.... apply for a CITIES Permit well in advance of your trip to Ontario. Needs 21 working days for application to be approved. If you tag a wolf, your paperwork is already done for taking wolf over the border to the states. If you do not tag a "Wolf", then you would just return the unused CITIES permit back to Enviroment Canada.... saves alot time and effort!!
