All red for my group. I had previously been very lucky in New Mexico drawing very high quality hunts. This year we applied for mid tier units with a outfitter and had nearly a 50% chance to draw and all 3 of us got a sea of red.

I would first like to apologize to Brotsky for this post. As he says NM rips up his application when he sends it in8^O
I have applied twice now to NM elk draw and have struck gold TWICE! First time was unit 13 and got my bull. And now I drew 16A!!! So excited I almost peed myself!!!
Anyone that has hunted this unit and willing to help please PM me. Anyone living in NM and has intimate information worth a KS whitetail hunt...PM me PLEASE!!!

Personal success percentage. 33yrs of consecutive applications in the same unit. First 20 years I was successful 19 times. Last 13 years I've drawn 3 tags.

I was lucky but don’t think it counts for Bowsite...Unit 15 muzzleloader elk hunt in the near future for me and my son. 2nd NM elk tag in 20 years...last one was in 2001 and I shot a very large 5x5 archery.

I hate to even say it but I drew a 2b deer and 5b elk. Nonres first time applying. Any help on 2b would be greatly appreciated. These are rifle hunts.

It's utterly ridiculous the low number of tags available to NR in NM. All of those private land tags should go back into the draw, and 20% should go to NR, with or without a guide. Also, go back to weapon choice for elk. It used to be, you had to choose what weapon/season to apply for, it kept the rifle hunters out of the archery draw. And another thing while I'm at it lol, you have to buy a non refundable 65 dollar hunting license regardless of you draw or not. The draw odds are so low, its ridiculous.

Ned: I agree when they changed to choices could be a mix of weapons, archery tag odds tanked immediately because lots of rifle hunters tossed in archery as 3rd. I doubt it will ever change back, though.

Can't get drawn for deer? I have always gotten drawn for deer, elk is a different story. I wish unit 16 deer was broken down like elk hunting with A,B,C,D,E . I want to get back into the wilderness again for deer but seems like I always draw my second choice.
