Some will remember a few years back that my step son suffered from an AVM that burst and caused a brain hemorrhage. He was in rough shape but pretty much fully recovered. Last week he was driving and the repair that they did on the avm let loose causing not only another brain hemorrhage, but also him to roll his truck. He’s heavily sedated and intubated right now. Our family could use all the positive thoughts and prayers you can send right now.

Thank you all. I wish I had an update but right now he’s still sedated and intubated. He seems a bit more awake, but we really can’t tell if he acknowledges us or not.

Jade is having surgery today to put a shunt in his head and remove the drain tube. Next step will be to wean him off the sedation drugs and remove the intubation tube. After that happens they can assess his brain damage and begin a plan to rehabilitate.

Jade was moved to a more intermediate area of the ICU Friday. He doesn't need the 24/7 around the clock nurse attention any longer. He is more calm now and is responding to some conversations and questions from us and the medical staff. I was fortunate enough to take my nephew out turkey hunting successfully Friday afternoon. I showed Jade the video and he smiled so big! It was awesome! He's making small improvements and it's so great to see. We still don't know the extent of his brain damage, and it may take a few months to see that. We are going to get more of a plan from his Dr's this week hopefully. We have started a gofundme for him and his 4 year old son. Jade will be out of work for the unforeseen future-we are trying to keep him on his feet, figuratively, while he is not able to provide for himself. If anyone would like to donate click on the link. We sincerely appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers being sent his way. A 23 year old kid shouldn't have to go through this once, let alone twice. I humbly thank you all.

It's amazing what the right care will do for the body and mind. Jade got moved back to the ICU earlier this week. He was not getting the care he needed in the transition area of the hospital and we had to meet with a patient advocate to get him turned back around. After 2 days of getting the right attention and constant nutrition he is sitting up, walking and talking full sentences! In the next week or so he will most likely be moved to a rehabilitation facility locally that focuses on brain injuries. We sincerely appreciate everyone's thoughts, prayers and donations - good to see him back on track to recovery!

Jade moved out of the hospital today! He moved to the Post Acute Medical (PAM) rehabilitation facility in south Fargo this afternoon! He was SOOOOOO happy! It’s so good to see him happy again. What a difference a week can make.
Now the work begins for him however.
PAM provides both physical and mental rehab and he stays there 24/7 while in this program. We fully believe this is the right place for him right now.
Keep the positive thoughts and prayers coming for him.

Jade has been doing well at the new rehabilitation facility. He has physical, speech and occupational therapy daily. His short term memory is about 5 minutes right now. He knows everyone when he sees them, but can’t recall conversations or happenings from earlier in the day. We’re hoping that memory exercises and time will stretch that time back out.

Jade gets to go outside a bit now. He’s also back to eating anything vs liquid/pudding consistency foods. His first two items he requested were a pepperoni/sausage Jack’s pizza and a McDonald’s cheeseburger. Lol.

Well…he did it! Jade went home yesterday! He will be doing outpatient rehab starting next week. So many emotions yesterday as he walked out of the rehab facility!
