Im going to guess that Kentucky runs a draw about like Montana &/or Colorado after today. I saw results were posted so I went to check and they don't have any record of who I am the website tells me. I have a screenshotted receipt for my application. These people running these draws just don't understand. I tried to call them and they were closed.

This was my last year applying. The odds are soo low that id be better off setting my money on fire. If they eliminated the buffer counties and started expanding the range into more of the former coal country I would be more inclined to continue spending my money.

Done it for 15 years wts I watched live on fb two years ago while knowing it was a crapshoot didn't expect the vile vitriol from the residents against the non-resident hunters who won. Figured you know what your right I can spend my money elsewhere.

I gave up on KY elk lottery a few years ago. No bonus or preference points. But celebrity hunters always seem to get tags. If you really want a KY elk tag the company I consult for gets 6-7 tags each year, but they fetch $7000 plus.

I don’t do raffles and I don’t do Ky elk. Odds about the same. Stupid money. I’ve even quit several other states when NR tags got skimmed enough. It was never even in the stratosphere as far as ROI.

It’s leas than a hamburger at a decent restaurant to apply...geez guys.

Yeah the 10.00 entry fee makes it a no-brainer to apply for me. Horrible odds of course, but the appeal is the potential novelty of hunting elk in the Midwest (or maybe it’s the south?)

Steve so are cigarettes and beer... gambling on low probability draw tags isnt much better. It will take 500 iterations to have a reasonable shot at drawing a KY elk tag. There are other tags I will gamble on because I can see where my money goes for habitat and expanding populations. KY feels like I am just subsidizing TV hunters getting voucher tags.

Ten dollars is about 4 cups of coffee from the local donut shop. If it were closer I'd play those long odds.

My friend drew as a non resident 2 years ago. Not an easy hunt by far. We hunted dark to dark and never set eyes on one. Tracks, wallows, sign.... closest we got was smelling them the last day. If you do get drawn hit up the local deer archery hunters they run cams and know where the elk are. But you have them in the woods baiting and driving quads so there is a lot of pressure. I quit applying after that hunt.
