'morning All,
At least with all this Heat, we are sweating off those extra pounds!
I just had to go down and do a scouting/hiking trip on my Az. Bull elk tag unit.
Thanks for taking the time to view All

I like to travel via 89A, Kanab, Ut/Fredonia, Az that takes me up and over the Kaibab.
The North end is struggling to recover from those damn Forest Fires.
A lil bit cooler on top @ the campground
Dropping down off the top takes ya along the Vermillion Cliffs, 1 of my yearly choices for Desert Rams in Az.
I made this little town my Base Camp for this trip
9 1/2 hours drive later from leaving home @ 0500 I made it to the Airbnb.
More to follow-------->
Thanks again for taking the time to view All.
Good luck, Robb
You’re sure not letting any grass grow under your feet, Robb! Enjoy it!
Is the drought as bad as they say in AZ?
Have fun Robb! Stay hydrated
"Is the drought as bad as they say in AZ".... no, it's worse!! Horrible conditions right now. The monsoons need to drop a couple feet of water anywhere and everywhere!
Might want to keep up on the news. Coconino National Forest will go into complete closure starting 8am Wednesday. I expect the other forests’ to follow suit. Fires are forcing evacuations throughout the Rim country. Communities just south of Flagstaff are now in the “set” status for a fire that blew up. Your scouting trip might be cut short.

Sure, it's dry and hot.....
I was there last week before the closure goes into effect, Thanks for the Heads-up for sure.

I like to hike up one side of a big draw ridgeline and then come down the ridgeline of the other side glassing and covering as much ground as I can on that type of 'U' scouting hike.
Over the years of hunting this unit of and on, I found this nice water source down in the bottom of this 'hole' draw.
It's so steep and rocky that the rain really goes down into this bottom area.
On another morning I took off hiking to this area via an old 2-track road.
It's always held elk and water---------->
Well, maybe I shouldn't say Always......
That wraps up this early AM pix.
I gotta get to the gym and then up on the mountain for my hike before it gets to dang Hot and buggy.
Final pix to follow.
Thanks for taking the time to view All.

Thanks for posting Robb. Sure hope some rain starts hitting the west soon.
Nice Robb, I ALWAYS enjoy looking at pics of "elk country". Did you get eyes on any elk?
Thanks for posting good luck this fall.
Protection from the heat/sun and from breathing in to much Smokey air!
Protection from the heat/sun and from breathing in to much Smokey air!
Hey Thanks!
Bob it's not uncommon to not see many elk in this heat! and big ole moon.
The only live animal I saw on the mountain was this lil Coues doe.....
It's not lush and green but there seemed to be decent feed
One of my favorite area's over the years of having this unit, did burn up since I hunted here 3 years ago----dang it!
My only Touristy purchase! I've always wanted a Chainsaw Bear and this size is Perfect

There’s nothing like having an archery bull tag in your pocket! Glad you had a good trip. The timing was perfect. Now everything is closed and we must wait until it rains. A LOT!
+1 AZB......
I've been axed if I'm thinking about using my Point Guard and I'm like H*ll No! haha
Good luck, Robb
Always fun to follow your scouting trips Robb. Thanks.
Robb, I agree. I don’t believe in EVER turning tag back in. Life’s too short!
What happened to the Gladiator????
Thx for the pix!
I rotate JPWrangler/JPGladiator for each different of my trips BigJ.
I've been asked about the size/better pic of the Chainsaw Bear--------->
Good luck, Robb
All these photos and not a single turtle neck pic????
Luv the bear. Wife wants one but I'm too damn cheap. LOL
Only $40.00 @ one of those side of the road Native American trinket stands.
Good luck, Robb
NIce report! We will be chatting
Hey Thanks Dan.
The Airbnb gal that I stayed in has text me saying they are getting some good rain in the afternoons and her brother lives by the South Entrance to the Grand Canyon and he can't get up his driveway from the flash flood water!!
Good luck, Robb
Yes sir! Yesterday was our first “real” rain over much of N. Arizona. It poured rain for a couple of hours here in Prescott. It’s an excellent start!
