These are some pronghorn images I took in the past couple weeks. I was mainly after the young ones and some badgers and I lucked out and got both.

For those that like pronghorns I hope you can enjoy a few of these.

And have a great bow hunt. BB

For those of you who have never seen one of these birds, it is a horn lark. I see hundreds or maybe even thousands of these in pronghorn country, but to be able to even see, let alone get one with it horns up is most unusual. I feel very fortunate.

Pronghorn like the sage areas, as do these sage thrashers, thus their name.

Here's a photo that shows the sex of each of these twins, even at this very early age.

And badgers are one of my very favorite small mammals. I felt fortunate to get a couple decent shoots with them, being they are mostly night time animals.

This is a logger head shrike. For those of you who don't know or understand this bird, it might be a great read to see how it makes its living. Totally unbelievable and a true freak of nature.

Well I have probably bored many of to death so I will quit with this image. But this was my favorite of all the images I shot on this outing. ]Also I don't know what it is, but the images I post on the Bowsite don't show in their true colors. There's always a greenish tint that is not there in the others sites where I post or the way they show on my computer.

Anyway I wish you all the best, and of course-----

Have a great bow hunt. BB

Thanks again. Really great photos. Horned Larks are iconic on the prairies. In the town I grew up in (southern Alberta) the trains would go through at night in the winter. The tracks weren't far from our house and I would walk our family dog along them. The Horned Larks would roost along the tracks and, unfortunately, a few would get hit and hurt/killed when the train went through. I found a few, each winter, that I would take home to try to nurse back to health. They survived as my pet birds but, with broken wings, never did recover to fly again. I did enjoy having them as pets. Beautiful birds and their song always brings up wild prairie country for me.

Glad to see you posting more of your incredible photos, Bill! You have an amazing talent!

I used to check oil wells, back in the 80s & early 90s. The tank batteries and the the production equipment always had barbed wire fencing around it to keep the cattle out. Occasionally, I would see a few grasshoppers, as well as a few other insects that were impaled on the barbs on the wires. I remember reading as a kid, about shrikes, or “butcher” birds, and their habitat of storing their prey. I watched them on a couple of occasions fly down and impale a grasshopper on a barb. Very cool bird to observe, indeed.

I was also on a grizzly hunt in Alaska, a little over a month ago, and we got to view a shrike up close, on the Haul Road, while we were glassing for bears. Most likely was a Northern shrike.

Beautiful pics BB. The pronghorn antelope is a beautiful animal. I think that every time I look at the ones on our walls. I also had the privilege of seeing badgers from my blind while hunting too. Also had a prarie dog town in front of my blind. This was in Wyoming. A much different experience that you don't get to witness in northern Ohio.

Amazing photos of one of my favorite Western Game animals! Incredible clarity, images are astounding. The badger with the water dripping from his jowls is incredible as well. Thanks for bringing me back to the plains.
