Chris, save that big one for me!
Louie, these are just the tip of the iceberg for bears hitting the sites. Checked 8 baits today. First check of season. All wiped out. Have 43 baits out right now.
Tried something new thats seems to have worked. I usually have 3 out of 8 camera's played with or chewed on when I check this Bait run. After I placed the camera where I needed it on the tree, I nailed a 6 inch spike on each side of the camera into the tree. Sticking out about 2 inches. I could see where the bears tried to bite the camera, but not a single one moved or damaged by the bears.
Looking good, Chris! How many US hunters do you have committed for this fall?
T-roy, almost 3/4's tags taken. All American hunters.
^...great news! Glad to see bidness is picking back up. I hope none of the politicians on either side of the border do anything to screw things up again for everyone.

Thanks JL. I am ready for any dumb move the politicians make .
Glad to see the border opening back up and you getting clients back in camp for the fall hunt after being shut down for this long. There should be plenty of good bears to hunt. Looking forward to following along on this thread!
Glad your still at it Chris! Can’t wait to get some hillbillies back up there. Keep the pictures coming! Good luck this fall.

Good to hear you got some good rain, Spike! Were you guys battling fires issues like seemingly the entire western half of the continent?
My son and I are two of the lucky hunters with Chris next month, after getting a 400 pounder 5 years ago with Chris, we are very excited to see what he has for us, maybe a color phase??? My sons only bear was 120 so he wants a big one. Wish us luck.
T-roy the fires have been mostly in remote area's. The Northern Reserves have fires around them and many evacuated. Red Lake has heavy smoke. But, other than smoke, we are fine around here.
Mark, looking to be a great season. I dropped my computer, so I will have to get a new one for the trail cams on Tuesday. I am surprised the computer I dropped lasted as long as it did.

Those arriving at the border must have the Arrive Can App down loaded onto their phone and completed or you will not be able to cross. Must have your vaccine downloaded onto the app. Have your covid test results 72 hours before crossing the border. Must have your proof of vaccination paper you received after you got your vaccination.
Must have your Quarantine plan to give to border agent. Hunters at Pine Acres will use this address: Pine Acres Camp. 48 Spruce Street, Box 59, Vermilion Bay Ontario Canada, P0V2V0.
Only a very select few will be asked to take a covid test at the border.
There is no restrictions for Americans crossing back into the USA after the hunt.
If you come down with covid while at camp, you can go home or quarantine at camp. We have a cabin available. Supplies will be available. There is only a 3% chance of the vaccinated population that will catch covid. So we will all be fine. Plan is to satisfy the border agents.
Quite a few of Pine Acres Hunters have phoned the Fort Frances Border Crossing for info on crossing after August 9th. The info they received from border agent was very help full and they said it doesn't seem as confusing as first thought to be.
Spike....sounds like you have it all figured out. Did you have a link to that "Arrive Can App" folks can use?
One thing that might not be not clear to some readers. Even if you have been vaccinated, do you still have to take another virus test 72 hours prior to crossing?
Can Google Arrive Can App and get the info to download. Yes, must have a covid (Virus) test 72 hours before arrival at the border. I have no idea JL how to do a link.
*** The rules state, you must use Arrive Can App to enter your proof of Vaccination, Quarantine and Travel information. If you don't provide the required information in the Arrive Can App, before arriving at the border, you wont be considered for the exemption, even if you meet all the requirements.
Nice bears Chris hopefully they let the guys across, good luck this fall.

Hope your Fall hunt goes great Alex... I don't anticipate any problems for the hunters crossing the border. I suggested the hunters check out the app. Some phoned the border at Ft Frances. All still seems to be a go.
Bears are cooperating just perfect. Checked 19 baits today and all wiped out. Lost 2 camera's to hungry bears.
This certificate just came in today to Rick Arendsen....

Not baited this year. We do have the bait just south of it ready to go. Got the new computer and will have pics from those baits this coming weekend.

Got some pictures of this "OLD" Boar. He would not survive the winter so we Put a hunter on him as soon as we got this picture. We got him at 2:00 this afternoon.
Great to see success photos. That last “old” boar must have been a good one.
Great to see guys getting to hunt again up there, Chris!

Been doing pretty good this Fall. Hope to keep it up till October 6th. Lots of Mountain Ash.
Great looking bears. Keep it up.
Great bears! Especially like the chocolate.
Where do you guys attach the tags now? I don’t see any tags in the noses. Always hated seeing some great pics ruined by having the dang tag hanging out of their noses.
When you take a bear, you have to notch the bear tag month, date and time as soon you walk up to your dead bear. Then you can actually drive home with the tag in your pocket as long as the bear is in your vehicle and the tag is notch. When the bear is put in the cooler, it has to be tagged through the nose. When you take pictures you can legally take the tag off. But as soon as pics are taken tag gets put back on again. I like the new tagging rules.

Mountain Ash Tree...
Mountain Ash Tree...
This week of September 12th will be our busiest. So we had been working on getting the Deer Lake Road Areas going and kept active. No hunters have been up there till today. Fresh baits all ready to go.
We have not had much for natural bear foods this season. Then the Mountain Ash showed up. Apparently when the hot weather is not good for 1 berry, hot is good for the other. The bears needed the Mountain Ash bad, so I am kinda glad the berries are good. Just made us work harder to compete with them. Now I think we can overcome the bounty of the Mountain Ash..... Wish us luck guys and gals!!
Hoping your hard work pays off, and your remaining hunters are as lucky as those who have already scored.
Kathy claims Truck bait for next year! LOL

Recurve Hunter and his Boar off of Bear Factory Bait... Congrats Jeremy of Oklahoma and Guide Saxon James!!
Thank you for the opportunity had a great time and looking forward to the next trip up there.
This bear was taken off of Bear Factory Bait site.... Jeremy Cochran using a Recurve Bow... Some baits do get hunted a second time. If Bear activity or if we have a camera on the site tells us that we need to reuse a site we will.
The site Jeremy took his Bear off of produced a large cinnamon bear the week before. Also, the same bait right now is still being trashed by bears. We just might use it again!!
Saxon and I offer a limited guided hunt. Meaning we will get and keep sites active until hunters arrive. Then the hunters drive themselves to and from the baits. Also we will have many chats through out the week on things to improve your chances. We will suggest a hunter who is not seeing a bear, to bring in one of our Bear Bombs, to bring a bear full of berries in to the scent. He might not be hungry but the over whelming scent can entice him in for a visit.
If a hunter goes home without a bear, which does happen, it's not the guides fault. We spent many hours preparing for a hunters visit. LOTS OF HOURS, thats what a hunter is paying us to do. Sometimes no matter how hard the hunter and guide works to get the bear in front of the hunter, once in a while we fail in getting it done. The bear wins.
I would like to thank ALL hunters for coming to hunt with us during a pandemic. It was a challenge worth overcoming. We would like to thank all hunters rebooked for 2022 and those still wanting to book for 2023. We will put a price freeze till 2024. Froze at 2019 prices. ***We are booked for 2022 with many spo'st available for 2023. To any who hunted with us this Fall and did not see a bear. Contact us and we will figure out a future plan to get you back.
Lottie, Saxon and I again thank you for hunting with us!!
Well done sir!! Is your season officially over?
