Disheartening to see what has become of the antelope herd in this particular unit. I've hunted it every year since 2009 and where once 300-500 antelope made hunting brutally difficult due to ALL of the eyes, now a good day produces just 25 spotted animals. Easier to spot and stalk without being spotted by other animals, but a travesty of game management.
Hey Ike, that was the only thing that kept me cool in the blind. Took off the upper shirt and unzipped the lower part of the pants. Actually when this buck was first spotted, I was down to shorts and boots. Ha, where were the ladies then?
Opening morning, New Mexico. I climbed up a windmill and propped a decoy up nearby. He really wasn't interested in either the water or the decoy, but I think the decoy made him walk closer. He saw me maneuvering my bow around the pump rod and decided to leave. At 55 yards I grunted at him and he turned around, giving me a shot.
The antelope in the northern part of Wyoming are having an extremely hard time finding water to survive this years heat wave as you can see from this photo. Fawn recruitment is very low and am sure that WGF will have to make adjustments on tags for next year. Pretty sure this fawn after the stress of just trying to get a drink will not survive.
The Montana FWP is selling 1000 extra doe antelope tags in the southern part of the state. Sounds like they (1) have too many lopes or (2) made a mistake on the initial drawing and failed to issue enough.
JL. Perhaps MT is trying to get ahead of the game by decreasing the herd now, with hunters, rather than let the drought and winter stress kill them off.
My 13 year old grandson RJ shot his second. My 12 year old got a shot and missed. 100 plus in the blind and too much water and they thought it was great. Thanks to two friends who drove them out from Michigan. Stan Delabbio and Steve Farrel
Some awesome goats! Thanks for posting. Season opener here in Alberta, September 1. I last drew a tag here 12 yrs ago…both my son and I will b out. Hopefully pics to come! Good luck everyone!
Set up a blind between two pivots after glassing this buck and his harem of does the night before. The does fed past me, and as the buck herded the last doe through the fence, he offered me a broadside shot. 2021 Nebraska tag punched!
It's great to see so many good pronghorn taken already. Now is certainly the good old days. It only took me 12 days to close in on one of the big ones in Colorado. A spine shot put him in the water, which doesn't make for a great trophy pic. More often than not, my hunts end with more excitement than is warranted.

First time hunting archery pronghorn. Sitting in a popup in 90+ deg temps is harder than chasing elk a 10,000 ft. Thanks to KHunter for use of popup and the location tip. Can't wait to torture myself again!!
Just returned from Nebraska antelope hunting and did manage to shoot a small buck! HOT is an understatement! The day I shot my buck it was 99 degree's! It always amazes me that a broadhead kills go quickly! Shot was about 23 yards, both lungs! My recurve still works just fine! Good Luck for the rest of the fall!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the best weeks of antelope hunting I have ever experienced…. Bucks fighting everywhere. Played cat and mouse with this buck all week. Watched him whip up on the another buck one morning and had him within bow range multiple times, before I finally put him to sleep. Nothing like the rut, be it antelope, deer, or elk!
He actually joined me on this stalk Treeline. (There’s an ultimate predator decoy not pictured.) He was in the truck for 4 days in a row while I chased a VERY big buck around so I took him with me. His name is Booner Dog and this was his 4th stalk.
Finished up a rifle hunt.....tagged out on all three tags....all rifle. Spoke to a few ranchers and they were finding dead deer and antelope on their places. The thinking was EHD from the drought.
Posting this pic of an antelope a local rancher found dead. Pretty cool horns.
Here's a lay of the land at one place we had some luck. A beautiful area if you're into the plains and bluffs. The sun was rising over the bluff behind me and lighting up hills.
