I got a moose yesterday with my bow, but have no idea how to score them. I am not looking for an exact score but instead just an estimate based on pics from someone familiar with the scoring system. If anyone is willing to take a look at my pica, it would be much appreciated.

Congrats Troy. Tim sent me the pic last night. Can’t help you with score but great accomplishment with the Kota Longbow!

I assume this is a Canadian Moose if so here is a link to the score form and instructions. Biggest mistake is counting something as a point when it does not qualify. They need to be at least a inch long and cannot be wider than they are long.

Congrats on your bull, Doc! Even more impressive with the longbow! I wouldn’t know how to score him, but I’d bet the guys that would, would appreciate some additional pics, from several angles, to be able to possibly be able to give you a ballpark estimate, at least.

Is it a Shiras or a Canada subspecies?

No idea about scoring, but I'm thinking the stalk had to be interesting!

Thanks for the congrats!! I know he is not a monster but just curious about score. I included a couple more pics as a reference. His antler is broke on his left side which lost 1-2 points.

You should have it scored officially. Moose are tough from a photo IMO.

Here’s a link to ND P&Y Scorers

Congrats on your moose!

I would say around 120-125 net Pope and Young.

Doesn't scoring a moose involve killing a chicken and looking at the entrails?

Congrats on a ND moose. If you download the PnY score sheet it is pretty self explanatory. I have been within a couple inches on 2 Alaska and one Shiras bull. I would say Charlie and Mike are pretty close but it is tough from a pic. Pretty cool looking bull by the way.

Nice moose congrats! I'll take a crack at score guess. I guess about 48" wide taken across the skull to the widest points not on a diagonal. His points are 7x9= 16 With 6.5" of mass on each side =13 His paddle length is going to be 22 + 27= 49 (The no split brow on the left side hurts score.) His paddle width looks to be 9" per side =18 So 16+13+49+18+48= 144" gross

If you are ever in the Fargo area I am an official scorer.
