Just read an article about prospective 2024 Prez candidates for the Repub side. Earlier I seen one for the Dem side.

Repub side:

Trump

Mike Pence

Chris Christie

Mike Pompeo

Nikki Haley

Ron DeSantis

Kristi Noem

Chris Sununu

Tom Cotton

Ted Cruz

On the Dem side:

Prez Biden

VP Harris

Mayor Pete

For the Repubs.....I could live with Desantis, Pence, Cruz, Cotton, Pompeo and Trump.

Christie...no

Sununu.....probably not

Noem....might be viewed as not enough experience

Haley...definitely not. She sold out to the left-wing extremists and cancel culture crowd and supported statue removals when she was Gov.

For the Dems.....the only one I would ever be concerned about for 2024 if he were to run would be Manchin....but he has not shown any interest. Tulsi Gabbard has been tip-toeing around Fox News lately which has me thinking she might be quietly trying to appeal to a broader audience in the middle. Other than that....the Dems do not have a quality bench and IMO will come into 2024 as damaged goods thanks to the extreme Leftists, Socialist and Marxist elements within the Dem party that have taken over. Middle America won't tolerate that and the moderate types that voted for Biden and Harris now realize they made a mistake and have buyers remorse. Plus Prez Biden and VP Harris will be the poster children for what's wrong with the country right now.....and IMO that poster is well deserved.

I fear we won't have a country left by 2024.

From: JL

Manchin would get alot of moderate votes in addition to the Dem votes. That's why I'd be concerned if he ran.

If the Repubs do what they normally do.....viciously flame and frag each other during the primaries...do the work for the media and Dems....that will hurt come the general election when they need to be united.

From: Matt

Not sure I really like anyone on the Republican list and am quietly hoping that Trump is too mired in legal issues to be a candidate. My fear is he wouldn't get the Republican nomination, his ego wouldn't allow for him to step aside, he would run as an independent, split the conservative vote, and hand the Dems 4 more years.

Dan.....you also bring up an interesting Trump point. If the 2022 candidates he supports do well....that might bode well for him. If I was one of the other potential Repub candidates wanting to position myself for 2024....I'd also pick out and support some 2022 candidates. If your pick wins....that would bode well for the picker. If your pick whiffs on the 2022 election day....well....that would not be a good look.

I don’t think Trump can win in 2024 but if he’s nominated I’ll damn sure vote for him. I didn’t like Trump the man when I voted for him the first time or the second time, still don’t like him. I say let them keep bitching. It’s great entertainment in the treestand. I have to make sure my harness is good and hooked up or I’ll fall out of the tree laughing at things like this:

“The man got more votes than any Repub in history.”

But not more than an out of touch old woman (2016) or an old man with dementia (2020). That’s what the MAJORITY of Americans think of Trump. LMAO. Also, as if there isn’t more voters than anytime in American history. Completely and totally oblivious.

I didn’t realize watching snowflakes melt could be so entertaining.

Tom Cotton Better job would be getting the alphabet agencies under control

Ted Cruz Serious Vice

On the Dem side:

Prez Biden YUP best idea yet.

VP Harris He he he

Mayor Pete Only problem with him would be if his children or spouse has a head ache, he would have to take parental leave time.

Being from Joe Manchins state (WV) I can honestly tell you we don't want that hypocrite in that office! All this posturing about the budget is just that posturing for reelection in 2022. "Federal probe: Protest not broken up due to Trump photo op

An internal investigation has determined that the decision to clear racial justice protesters from an area in front of the White House last summer wasn't influenced by then-President Donald Trump’s plans for a photo opportunity at that spot

By ASHRAF KHALIL Associated Press

June 9, 2021, 1:57 PM

WASHINGTON -- An internal investigation has determined that the decision to forcibly clear racial justice protesters from an area in front of the White House last summer was not influenced by then-President Donald Trump's plan to stage a photo opportunity at that spot.

The report released Wednesday by the Interior Department's inspector general concludes that the protesters were cleared by U.S. Park Police last June 1 so that a contractor could get started installing new fencing.

The demonstrators were protesting the death of George Floyd, who died after a then-Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck and pinned him to the ground for about 9 1/2 minutes. A half-hour after the Washington protesters were forced from the area with pepper pellets and flash-bangs, Trump walked across Lafayette Park amid the lingering scent of pepper spray and delivered a short speech while holding a Bible in front of St. John's Church.

Park Police officials had already planned to clear the area and “had begun implementing the operational plan several hours before they knew of a potential Presidential visit to the park,” Inspector General Mark Lee Greenblatt said in a statement accompanying the report. “We determined that the evidence did not support a finding that the USPP cleared the park on June 1, 2020, so that then President Trump could enter the park.”

The report determined that the decision to clear the protestors was justified, but that law enforcement agencies on the scene failed to effectively communicate with each other and failed to communicate warnings to the protestors about the impending crackdown. ....."

One thing about the current Admin tearing the country down, it would make sense whatever Repub comes in afterward can only take things upward in a positive direction.

Any Dem will have to run with an anti-Biden/Harris platform if they even want to have a prayer of winning.

The news was saying this afternoon the Harris team is miffed (mad?) at Mayor Pete for stealing all the media play as a Prez candidate.

Also.....if DJT Sr does not run and a Repub wins, I can see DJT Jr fitting into a cabinet position somewhere....or at least getting an offer.

Since we’re all just speculating I’d like Tom Cotton or DeSantis as President. Mark Robinson, NC Lt. Gov as VP.

I also really like Jim Jordan but he does a great job in the Senate.

Somebody earlier mentioned Gabbard, she’s really playing the centrist role, she’s a veteran and sounds intelligent, lucid. I actually think she would pull all the Republicans that don’t want Trump plus whatever so called moderates there are as well as the people who regret voting for the current idiot in chief but won’t admit it. Might come down to her VP choice but I think she would beat Trump.

""Democrats n Republicans..and we still end up with big government..""

The distinction between the two parties used to be the emphasis on government size/spending/jurisdiction. Nowadays both parties want to protect their own wealth while spending more on their pet causes.

Neither side cares about reducing spending, or minimizing government intrusion into private lives.

The only time the GOP even pretends to be _fiscally_ conservative is when Democrats propose to spend more $$. Then they clamor for a bigger slice of the pie. The Democrats claim to have different priorities but don't want to talk about killing programs that put money in their districts - and you can believe _that_ gravy gets spread far and wide. The biggest, stupidest boondoggle is still 'jobs in my district'.

From: Will

Reality. Things that can be verifiably proven. For example, election fraud has been repeatedly PROVEN in court to be massive BS, but a certain former president who fairly lost an election cant handle losing, thus continues to peddle and have his cronies peddle BS on said subject. His/their story telling is not reality - Cheyney and Kinzinger both recognize that and thus people who swore and oath to the former president who fairly lost an election, and not an oath to the United States of America seem to have lost that fact, thus are punishing people who speak about reality. They may very well be voted out given the climate - Kinzinger is stepping out I believe. But given they are capable of operating in reality, and can sustain that despite massive pressure from the crowd... Yep, if I have to vote R, I'd do it for them. They appear to be, despite my differences with them on several policy fronts, decent human beings. I like decent humans, so I'd go for them... If they ran.

David....I too like many was bummed about the election overall. WRT VP Pence.....I tried to take out the emotion and look at the required logic. As I understand it, the Office of the VP is required by the Constitution to count all the electoral votes and certify the election. He was certifying his and Trump's loss....a very tough pill to swallow. As I see it, although not the outcome many Americans wanted at the time, and now a clear majority wanted, he did his Constitutional job as the VP by certifying the election. Like in the military, if you're required to do a job...you do it. In that context....I don't have any problems with him. If/when Biden and Harris loose in 2024...I expect her to certify her and Biden's loss too.

Pence was very loyal to Prez Trump and by all appearances....did a real good job as the Gov of Indiana and as VP. He made Kamala look like a cackling idiot she is in the VP debates. Will he even run...who knows. He has some books coming out in the future so we'll see what he has to say.

Pence was ultimately loyal to the Constitution, and not to Trump, and was and is still being pilloried for it. Its the only thing of note aI ever saw from him, and while commendable hardly qualifies him for the Oval Office.

Trump doesn't give a shit about loyalty to anyone but himself and that is why he is utterly unqualified for the Oval Office.

As long as the GOP remains a subsidiary of Trump Inc. *they* are not qualified for the Oval Office. (And please spare us the chorus of 'but, but, but Biden!!!" He's a hack, we get it. But imo the lesser of evils and that's what both parties are 'offering' us these days. "Well, he's better than the other guy!" If only the Libertarian Party would put up a *good* candidate...)

trublu, both choices sucked. But Trump was and remains a self-centered child. I make no apologies for preferring a hack to a whack.

I voted for Trump and will admit both votes were not necessarily for Trump but against the other opponents. I learned to admire his ideology but the endless revolving door of cabnit appointees & nonsense was ridiculous. Probably the one thing that impressed upon me more than any other statement made by anyone was the Whitehouse press reporters saying that when trumps social media accounts were shut down it was the first good night's sleep they'd had since his inauguration. Everyone wants to blame the press & the dems & discredit all the (mean) tweets. But the fact is he brought it upon himself. I truly believe he really liked all the attention. Let me put it in a country boy's perspective. If the media was the hornets nest & tweets were rocks the man REALLY REALLY REALLY liked getting stung !!! In my lifetime I've only thrown a rock at a hornets nest one time !!! The man has great ideology but the reality TV show host bs that came along with it was just too much for folks to stomach any longer. I don't think he stands a chance at reelection.

Well....lets try a different angle. Hypothetically speaking.....Biden, Harris, Trump, Pence......who is the lessor of evils in those choices in 2024?

I voted for Trump after voting independent since 2004.

One thing is for sure these leftist and Neocon politicians are bent on total control.

I wish people would quit referring to these leftist as "Liberals"...they are not Liberals they are Leftist/Marxist. Classical Liberals are more like Libertarians. Our state legislators voted 2 yrs ago whether to raise the gas tax in our state...5 Republicans and 1 Democrat voted against it. So much for our so called conservatives in our state capital. I wish more Libertarians would gey elected!

I have the least policy differences with Trump. Biden and Harris are of course out. Trump has plenty of personality faults but the reality is it will take a Trump or a Trump-like candidate to win. I wish a nice, polite, articulate person would get the nod but thats not where we are.

Pence is better on the character, demeanor, "act presidential" factor but if its not fuel for getting the right policy through, its wasted. I don't see him fighting hard enough to undo the damage.

I'm right there with timex. I liked most of Trump's policies but he is so caustic and so stuck on the 2020 election that he will never get enough independent vote to win, no matter who the Dem candidate is.

" Independents may be the most confused group in the country and sadly control the outcome. "

I feel the same way about partisans. People who can't see past the 'D' or the 'R' do too much damage on either side. I prefer issues over 'party loyalty' and neither major party does much more than pay lip service to issues. Then they tax and spend more, and make dam' sure to get their cut.

Rocky, the *only* dem I vote -for- is my state senator. (She's pro hunter.) Unfortunately the gop in Mass is a phantom, they have nobody who can beat Neal or Warren or even that idiot Markey. But the gop needs to pull its head out of Trump's ass before I'll support their potus candidate.

Dana......aside from some of his dopey tweeties.....have you seen the list of things Prez Trump and his Admin did for the country in four years? This was with a left-wing, hostile, dishonest media to boot. When you do a search, you will find some media outlets who do their own "fact-check" on the Trump accomplishment list. I looked at them first and then looked at the Trump list. What I found was these media "fact-checkers" cherry picked things and claimed something failed when in reality it worked as time was given for the policy to work. USA Today and Business Insider did this. We know some of their "fact checks" were wrong because we have the luxury of looking back at history. This is why there needs to be honest fact-checkers of the dishonest media fact-checkers.

Most Libertarians are not anti war..they just believe we shouldn't be policing the whole world. If you do fight a war...fight it to win...if there is just cause of an immediate threat. JFK understood why we shouldn't get involved in southeast Asia and he was not anti war.

I can't see Moochele or Abrams ever winning. Of course I never thought Biden would win either. The words Democrat, Liberal, Socialist, Progressive and Media are words that stoke negative vibes these days. I'd guess some pollster somewhere has tested those words with likely voters or focus groups.

It takes the cake when she starts sobbing reading her 2016 Prez acceptance speech. If she is trying to play the sympathy card for a 2024 run.....it ain't working. She looked phony doing it. She claimed she isn't running for anything, but she said the same thing in 2014/2015.
