Looking to shoot a heavier small diameter shaft. I hunt with a 3 blade 125 grain VPA broadhead & do not want to switch. I presently shoot a Victory Gamer shaft in 300 spine. Arrow & broadhead are in the 400 grain range. I'd like to be closer to 500. I've tried an Easton 5mm FMJ in 340 spine & a Victory Xtorsion in 300. Both will shoot a field point great. When I shoot a broadhead, it looks like a curve ball hitting low & left .. I have a Hoyt Carbon Defiant set at about 65 pounds. I'd like to avoid the trouble of bare shafting if possible. Open to suggestions or ideas. Thanks

I shoot Easton axis 300 with 50 grain brass inserts and 125grain head. 29” arrow. Comes out to 504 with good FOC. not sure how that BH flys.

You’re calculations are off. Those shafts show as 9.9 GPI. Unless you’re shooting a 24” arrow, you’re already around 450 grains.

Add a 50 grain brass insert, or add a 25 Gr. Iimpact collar from Iron Will. Put a wrap on your arrow and add a lighted nock. You’ll be over 500 easily. And tune your bow.

For what it's worth, I've been playing with a Gold Tip 300 at 9.3 gpi, 100 grain brass insert, & the 125 VPA Weighs around 495 grains & flies like a dart. Might have found a winner for me. Thanks for the advice.

You could put some screw in insert weights into your Gamers and you might be close to 500.

A heavier arrow isn't going to make your broadheads hit better with you field points.

I didn't look up the Gamer gpi and you didn't give a length but 400 gr seems real light for a 300 spine arrow setup. I'm shooting 300 spine Axis 5mms cut to 29 3/8", standard HIT inserts, 125 gr heads, three 2" blazer vanes, and 4" wraps. Actual (not calculated) weight is 512 gr with Nocturnals and 498 gr with standard nocks. Broadheads hit with field points at least to 50 yds.

If using vap’s, they are a much lighter small diameter arrow than axis. I shoot 340’s and they are 7.8, 300’s are low to mid 8 gpi if I remember correctly

Kevo, how long are your arrows? I still think even with that new set up, you’re coming in light when you add in your nock and vanes…and possible wrap. Are you weighing your arrows or just guessing the weight? Could you give us everything on your arrow and length? Thanks.
