'morning All,
Seems strange to be doing my yearly JH thread but it's been a year already.
Low 30's during the day and mid-20' @ night made it rather warmer than normal this year.
Very little snow around and the NER was void again this year on Elk/Buff roaming around. Third year in a row it's been like this on the south end. I think I got my last harvest off the south end 4 years ago.....
Thanks for taking the time to view All.

Last year, 1 morning at the South entrance parking area, all of a sudden Tag-n-Drag horse trailers and a few other trucks started pulling in just as I was fixin' to hike into my spot in the dark.
A small herd of Buff had come onto the South end over night.
I didn't want anything to do with that crowd as I'm used to being alone in the early morning other than my bud from Thayne if he has a P-slip.
I went in after them just to watch-----man-O-man...... A guy and his wife got a nice bull, hunting just them and I think she had the tag and shot----I hung back and just 'glassed' the action!
Tag-n-Drag guys sure are helpful to others
Same amount of snow as last year though
I didn't get my normal cabin as some gal from North Dakota had it long term lease for 90 days, I did talk to her and she was a nice person doing some type of contract office work for some firm in JH.
I stayed in my back up lil' cabin
After traveling for 5 hours, it was nice to get unpacked and into the lil' cabin.
That afternoon 'breeze' had a bite to it!
It seemed like the younger Bull Moose had already shed this early in the year.
The Buff still hangin' out of the hunt area......
Very Late calf, I hope it makes it through the winter!
That wraps it up for this early AM.
Ya know how that first full day home can be with workout, groceries, more laundry!! ect ~~ Haha.
More to follow----------->
Thanks again All for taking the time to view
Good luck, Robb
Your living the dream. Thanks for taking us along.
Good luck Robb.. this drought is awful.. all we can do is hope and pray that we get moisture or the west is going up in more flames
Tag N Drag runs outfitting on the NER. They cane be a real pain, well their guides can be, but their service is well worth the price. They will retrieve and gut your animal for you, the service is great for bison as the hunter does not have to worry about brucellosis issues when gutting.
Nice to hear some bison moved over for the hunters.
Good luck, Robb! Thanks for the pics!
Nice Robb, always enjoy your picture threads.
Robb, what would be your biggest reason for going this early and is this your favorite part of Wyoming ? Enjoy the pics....Bob
Thanks for the input and kind words.
Bob ya only have certain dates you can apply for and if memory serves me this was the 2nd to the last hunt dates offered for elk....it just fit my schedule better this year.
I need to get me a smaller version of this Neon Sign!!
Lots of nice Bull Moose this year off the NER but nice to see some big boys still alive
I couldn't get him to look directly my way as he was 'uge and very wide!
This other one has a Dropper point I even had my Digi-Scope on 60x power, and I just didn't get a better angle of the Dropper.....
Lots of elk in the area but not on the NER.
This herd was hangin' on the south end of Blacktail Butte.
That cow looks like she has 2 different collars on her neck, green and then a smaller whitish one
A few smaller Raggy size bulls mixed in with the herd of cow's-n-calves.
I got some good pix of some Sheep
That wraps up this early AM pix
I'll finish it up with some this-n-that pix later on
Thanks for taking the time to view All
Good luck, Robb
Great pictures! Hard to believe how little snow we have in Colorado this late in the year. Looks like Wyoming has the same thing going on. Hopefully this dry fall will let the critters go into the winter in good shape after the rut.
Nice pics Robb! Keep em coming.
Hey Thanks!
1 of my FAV sculptures around Antler Square
I think it was the year Turk drew his Buff tag that they started allowing full parking access @ this gate to hunt in on foot/horseback as it was just for retrieval before that year.
A pinch south of the Gros Ventre River Bridge off of hywy 89
2 years ago, they started allowing Bowhunters to use this fishing access gate to hunt on the newer enlarged Bow Only area on the South end/western boundary.
The only downside is that most of the time during this time of year, the dominant breeze is from the north and makes it tough to spot-n-stalk--------->
No wind in your face option
Snow King Ski Resort----Damn drought!
Snow King Ski Resort----Damn drought!
It was a fun trip again this year.
Between my late November Az. Bull hunt and this Jackson Hole gig, I got some really kool Christmas gifts for friends and family plus even a few for me!! haha.
Thanks again All for taking the time to view.
