Arizona been good to me so far in 2022. Tom
Really good to see someone from Califorknia can find a place to hunt. Good job.
Excellent… Congrats on a great cat!
Congrats!
Do you still live in CA, because they won’t allow you to bring it back
Bowboy , yep I had to drop it off in Arizona
Can you bring the meat back? Cougar is delicious.
Trapperkayak, I did not know but I put in the freezer at a friends house in AZ until I know ,
The California Wildlife Protection Act of 1990 (Proposition 117) legally classified mountain lions as a "specially protected mammal". It is unlawful to take, injure, POSSESS, transport, IMPORT, or sell any mountain lion or ANY PART or product thereof. (I would expect that also includes mt lion meat)
Congrat's! I did not know that CA had that rule about mnt lions. Wow.
Yeah crazy law! I had to drive to CA after my UT lion hunt to take care of some family business. Had to leave the cat behind in UT and pick it up on the way home. Stupid CA law!
Congrats, we’ll done! Now move to a non-communist state. Lol
The California Fish and Game Commission replaced president Dan Richards Wednesday, seven months after he shot a mountain lion in Idaho on a hunting trip there. California banned the practice decades ago, but Idaho and other states allow it. Richards has defended his actions as “legal” and proper. But animal activists and dozens of state lawmakers said as head of the agency that enforces California’s wildlife laws Richards showed “poor judgment.”
Pictures of Richards crouched over his kill that circulated on the Internet didn’t help his case. He further incensed critics when he told KFI's John and Ken Show t the mountain lion tasted "like pork loin."
The Fish and Game Commission elected Jim Kellogg to replace Richards.
Richards stays on the commission till the end of his term in January.
SteveB , 11 more months and I will be out of California,,I already bought a house in northern Nevada
Congrats on the lion! I hope to get my first soon as well!
Pretty damn crazy about the California import law. Doesn't seem like that should be legal given all the Interstate commerce laws.
You had a great hunt. Congrats on nice trophies !!
Very nice!! Congrats sir!!
Congratulations Tom. Ed F
Thanks to everyone’ for posting positive and congratulations posts , I thought I would get one more great Arizona hunt this year for Elk but did not draw with 18 points , now I will be heading to Alberta this fall on a moose hunt. Tom
Lion does taste like Pork Loin. I killed mine on a dry ground AZ hunt as well. Toughest hunt ive been a part of. Thats a great accomplishment!
Congrats! That one is on the bucket list for sure.
Time may come when I'll be an outlaw..... have a TV series like "Breaking Bad".... call it "Losing Arras" or something like that..... smuggling dead animals.... Instead of them asking "any fruits or nuts?" at the "border" (which I begin ROTGLMAO, and the wardens go "yeah, yeah.... very funny..." now the dogs come out and start sniffing for hides, mounts, meat.....
Other option is just tell em the kitty identifies as a house cat..... being CA and all it might fly. BTW, I was born and raised in CA. Moved out in 77 when it was still God's country and deeply saddened at what it has become with the mass insanity, the real virus. Like a whole different country. Certainly a whole nother thread....
Congrats again. Assuming hounds? Those AZ cat folks tracking with no snow.... pretty unique skill set.
Congrats on the lion and the house in Nevada! Well done!!!
