Two.

If space and weight aren't and issue put a modest priced slender bag (need not be a true mummy) inside a large rectangular bag. Be sure to face the zippers on opposite sides.

I spent a night that hit -38 f. in one of these setups. The true challenge was getting the 4" foam pad under me warm. I put a heavy jacket over my head.

I was in the back of my pickup canopy and in the morning the pad was frozen to the plywood sheet I had it on. Had to prop the canopy door open a couple inches to make use my moisture didn't freeze the door shut.

If money is not an issue then go with Western Mountaineering, as bb said. The warmest/lightest combo, but it will cost you more than a few dollars.

Holy Crap Rocky! The CHEAPEST bag was still over $800 .....................and most were in the $1200-1500 range! : (

Wiggys makes a system that’ll get you to -60. I’ve spent many very cold nights in it. And it’s cheap compared to the other brands, plus it’s synthetic.

Rocky- I had no idea the warmest bags cost that much $$$! I bought a 15* bag years ago and thought $200 was expensive-glad I never needed one below zero!

Thanks for the info will check them out.

I would take stock in Nicks advise. Wiggys bags are definitely a good deal. I’m embarrassed to say what I paid for a -40 bag.

On one trip it was -20 at night and I still had to wear a lot of clothes and heated water bottles to be comfortable.
