Does IA award pref pts B4 or after draw

I am trying to figure if I will get drawn for IA deer this fall. If so, I might buy a leftover spring turkey tag and get double use of the hunting license fee. The thing is I cannot remember if IA awards PP before or after the draw. I need 3pp and have 2pp will I draw?

No you are going into draw with 2 points

map1 is correct. You are awarded another preference point after being unsuccessful in the draw.

Thanks, I just couldn't remember and I know one of the states I apply for is b4 the draw. Maybe its WI bear I am thinking of.

Depends what zone you are looking to hunt. Two could get you in some zones.

Covid Creep is real.2 points won't get the better zones.I didn't draw zone 4 last year with 3 points.The stats for last year are online

And many people with 4 points did not draw zone 5, but there are zones you can draw with 2 points.

So you're saying that if you are applying for a bear kill tag and you already have 10 points from the previous years, you would have 11 points that count toward your tag application?
