Personally, I gave up on Co when I realized I would never get drawn for Bull Moose, Sheep- so I drew out on a cow tag. When I correctly figured that it would take me almost 2 decades to draw the elk unit that I hunted back in 2010 I just said forget it.
Fair to say loosing the best 5-6 days of hunting had a giant impact on hunting the high country.
Kinda sad to see how archery deer season was degraded to the point of now it is fair to say the experience of high country mule deer has gotten to the point that the best place is eastern plains.
I honestly am looking at lower country/burns on the front range as with the late dates, ease of getting licenses, late dates, and crowding the high country does not have the appeal it once did.
Thanks again cba!!!
It is far worse these days than it was when all the sportsmen got together and pushed for limiting all deer tags in this state to bring back our deer back in the late 90’s. Our deer herds have been and continue to be decimated by mismanagement…
Archery deer has gotten that bad in Colorado… Sad scene when archery deer hunters opinions do t matter at all to not only the cpw but also totally disregarded by the cba..
He only surfaces a few times a year mostly when he doesn’t get what he wants.
In the end a spade is a spade the cba elk only choice cost deer hunters the best 5-6 days and the cba could care less. As it is only about otc elk w them.
Doubt it will change but again a spade is a spade. And this “rebel bastard” will continue to call a spade a spade. I only come in here a few times a year as it has gotten quite stale/boring listening to the same 4 posters who I guess just love living in forums and have nothing better to do in real life I guess ?????
Enjoy your late days elk hunters caus ya flat screwed over other hunters in the process to get em.
Also don’t worry I will be back 3-4 times a year to well call a spade a spade.
Only thing that would change my plans would be if I found anyother guy that had enough points to do a hunt together.
I was thinking of a August vaction this summer to check out some areas. But at 6 or 7 miles to a gallon in the rv, not quite sure about that. Being that it would be a 4500/5000k around trip.
Fact: CBA had CPW staff support for early deer west of I-25 for most of the BGSS proceess, until a new director was appointed and declined his support.
Fact: The whole push for moving the season dates as they were adopted was commissioner Robert Bray. He was in support of all the dates we have now, and was the sole reason for the change. The rules are set by commissioners, not the CBA, or Jabba.
Fact: I believe all CBA members are deer hunters, our member survey showed wide support for early deer, and we represented that. Go listen to the audio. Our chairman, is a die hard mulie hunter.
Fact: Never seen a person so bent on axe grinding, that has the facts 100% wrong, and no clue how the process works or went. Get a clue, and get off the weed.
What is it with people who just need to place blame constantly? It is always someone elses fault.
At one point the proposal was to start deer mid August, but CPW support was not there.
I think many CBA members and the board would love to see moving deer season west of I-25 to coincide with pronghorn season dates. There are a lot of conversations being had about what we would like to see in the next 5 year structure. There also a lot pressure to separate the archery and muzzleloader seasons. That is also a top issue keeping the number of days with have during the season.
With all that said the CBA does not make the rules for archery hunting in CO but works very hard on behalf of our members. If you would take a second look at what the CBA does I think you would see a group of highly passionate bowhunters, that are doing a excellent job representing bowhunters in CO. They are a group that give a tremendous amount of their time to fight for what you are knocking them for not doing. If you are willing to re-examine your thought on the CBA I think you might have a change of heart.
I’d encourage anyone that hunts CO or wants to in the future to join. For your membership you get a magazine that rivals any hunting magazine out there. It is a great way to keep up with issue the CBA are working on.
