Received a text message from Scott Lambley at Monarch Custom Taxidermy that he had the velvet buck that I was blessed enough to open the 2021 meat pole with ready to go. I just don't have words for the job he did. Just wow! This is actually the first buck I have had mounted, but have several others that I am reconsidering after seeing this.

Looks very good and short haired capes are very unforgiving when it comes to taxidermist mistakes. Eyes, eye-lash angle, very clean ears etc......The short hair allows you to see the facial veins as well. You definitely got your moneys worth!

Did you freeze dry velvet or use velva lok?We have used velva lok a couple times and it works great

Habitat, Scott used the velva lok. He swears by it.

Can you post a field/kill picture of the buck for us to see?

I was just thinking about a velvet whitetail…

Stunning! I recognize that buck!

That looks really nice! The form he used is a great representation of an early season deer as well.

That's actually legitimately stunning. There are some "got my mount back" threads on here that I cringe at. This is NOT one of them. Great job on the velvet too.

Finally getting around to getting stuff ready so I can get the buck and other stuff up at home. Been working on this for a little while and it is mostly done. Might even take one or two of these back to Scott and swap them out for some others I have up in the garage.

Great looking mount and detail! Something about a big buck in velvet that makes them look cool.

I usually grind my velvet up and drink it with my morning coffee....... heheheheheh.......

Great looking mount. Congrats! I've done a few velvet euros and they are tricky for sure. drill and remove antlers, head goes to the bugs. Pin and epoxy when done. Hard velvet not so bad...... trying to save rubber velvet can keep you up at night.....

Velvet always adds a degree of difficulty, not just for the taxi but they can be so delicate in the field too. Great job. On both ends.

Gotta add/say, never been a fan or the "veins" on a deer form. Just my opinion.
