Got a sad video from a guy in SD. He lost some calves and is finding some pronghorn that didn't make it.

My son-in-law trsvels for his work & coming thru S.D. yesterday he HAD to stop & get a motel.. Wind, snow made it impossible to drive. Trust me, he has driven thru some unbelievable weather in the past & this is "second" time in 5 years he "could not".. This late bad weather can't be good for those expectant critters.

We are in the very northwest corner of the state and are able to start digging out today. The wind has finally got down below 20 mph. We have anywhere from bare ground to 14 foot drifts. The last couple days have been 10 inches of snow and steady 40 mph wind with gusts over 60. We are just trying our best to save the livestock and haven't had a chance to check on the wildlife yet. It has been brutal.

Here it went from the 30's to 80 degrees in one day. I would rather have that than the snow in SD.

Hopefully things warm up quickly for you guys! Those spring (and early fall) snowstorms can really be deadly on livestock and wildlife as well.

So for the turkey, deer and and antelope seem to have come through alright but the meadowlarks took a big hit. The darndest thing I have seen. There's already been quite a bit of melting but the drifts will be here a while.

Dang! When it rains, it…well, you know.
Looks like parts of Wyoming, Colorado, and Montana are gonna get/got hit, as well. Question for you guys in those areas. Is this snow more of a blessing, or a curse, ie. helping out with additional moisture, or more harmful for the wildlife and livestock?

Last night we got a couple inches of rain and now it is snowing good with a couple inches of snow already on the ground and more to come. Great moisture.

I saw a clip on the news yesterday morning of someone driving down a road and the wind blowing snow across it as the telephone poles blew down like dominos.
Right time, right place I guess??
Be safe out there,

We have had two “blizzards” here in the Sheridan WY area in April. Interstates closed from the MT border to SD border. Good news is it melted in a few days and the moisture was very much needed.
