I did not draw a bow tag but I drew an area 55NR tag rifle tag for late October. Never hunted new Mexico Or elk. Was curious on best spots to hunt, terrain, etc. I appreciate any help.

Terrain isn't too bad. Elk are pretty much everywhere. Stayed in McCrystal campground and hunted in every direction from camp. Most fun elk hunt of my life for sure.

Prob should hire an outfitter. Also, you will probably never draw that tag again as long as you live.
Also, How you people do that?

Seriously bro! I'm still nursing my rejection hangover and you ask for info on your Valle Vidal tag. If you threw 4 rocks out there you'd hit 5 elk.

"KHNC, I’d recon most once in a lifetime tags are never drawn again…. Probably bc you can’t apply for them anymore." I didnt know it was OIL. Just that the odds are stupid low, even worse than the 16's.
Also, should hire an outfitter in his case. Also, how do you people draw that tag?

For reals though, late Oct bulls begin to move to higher ground, some won't though. The higher ground is a little more steep with more downed trees to navigate around and through.
I stayed in Cimarron CC and hunted the higher stuff in 2017 with a 2nd archery tag. Killed my bull around 9,500', but didn't necessarily have to.
