NM electronic water source mapContributors to this thread:
In the past when we drew a NM elk tag we were able to find an electronic map of the water sources (tanks, springs, windmills, etc) somewhere online. For the life of me I can't find it now! Can someone direct me to what I'm looking for? It was a file (I believe kmz) that I could import into google earth and I found it to be very helpful. Thanks much!
Bump, I'm curious too
They’ve moved stuff around but used to be, specific national forest page, rec or map data (not sure which), gis, then pick the water kmz. On my phone for a while so I can’t look on my pc till I get home. I have the Lincoln.
All I know is that it has been pretty dry where I live in the GIla. Most of the tanks I reasonably walking distance from my house are bone dry now, but should hold water during archery season with a decent monsoon season.
This is the best I could come up with. There is a link at the top of the page for GIS contacts. I'd email and ask if they have a "water bodies" kmz data set for the forest you're looking at.
