WY unit 22, i can hunt unit 5 starting 10/1. Crazy excited. I also drew cow bison. This is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations! Will be following your hunt! Hope you have a great one! That cow bison could be fun, too!
May have to bite the bullet and start trying to draw in 5.
I did not apply for sheep this year as I already had a couple of hunts. Probably a mistake, based on what Wyoming has done… I think I am at 23 points for sheep and 24 after I buy another point.
Awesome, best of luck on your adventure. Cant wait to follow along.
Good timing before exiting the new system. You saved a lot of coin.
Zim trust me I know. Still in for moose but should draw that soon.
Congratulations Don! Hope you have an epic hunt!!!
Congrats and good luck! Looking forward to a recap here.
Congratulations! I live east of town on the river, I'll watch for a good ram for you!
What about your moose license?
Cow bison will be a chore to get on but can be done. Hunt that as early as you can then as late as you can into Jan. when they move over to the NER.
Wow, nice draw. Good luck! Like others, will be watching for the story and pics --- LOTS OF PICS.
Congrats Don! How many points did it take and are you going to use an outfitter?
HUGE Congratulations Don!! Looking forward to hearing about these amazing hunts!
Congratulations Don, you thought you'd draw a Moose tag. But you ended up with Sheep & Bison!!!!!!
No moose tag. Unit 22 sheep has exactly 1 NR tag. I had 22 points. Given the new 10% quota all it took was ONE of the 300 guys with more sheep points then me to apply and I would not have drawn. I figured for sure someone with more points would pick that hunt. I also think they might have not wanted to risk it and wen for unit 5. Odds are not out yet but I bet 5 jumped a lot. I drew and harvested a cow bison 7-8 years ago on the NER. After that I hunted cow elk on the NER every year except 2022 (did not draw access). I know things have got tougher and cow bison do not migrate on like before.
Any help anyone is willing to offer about finding sheep in unit 22, unit 5 outside wilderness and finding cow bison will be greatly appreciated.
I am DIY all the way.
RBHS has been my lifelong dream. I drew CO bow about 15 years ago and killed myself for 17 days. I misjudged yardage by a couple yards and grazed a 3/4 curl broomed ram just below his heart. He was ok. I was not.
This is very very likely my only other chance at a Rocky Bighorn in my lifetime. I would be lying if I said I am not choked up about this.
Congrats Don! Look forward to seeing your hunt here.
Don the odds are out now. You beat 1:5 odds to draw your ram tag.
Maybe contact Nick Muche for some advice. Kidding!!! Good luck man!!!!!
Good deal, Don!
Go get 'em !!
1:5 for sheep is great but sill far from a sure thing. For more apps in my point pool then every before. I was VERY lucky no one else with more points applied!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am lucky/surprised. Still in shock.
Unit 5 cleared out all guys over 22 points except 1. Always new apps. What will drastically affect guys in my pool (23 points after todays draw) is how many guys drop out and if half the high point guys still just apply points every year. I did the math and used past data and figured I was sure to draw unit 5 by 2027.
Ironically I had better odds at my moose tag which I did not draw!!!!!!!!!!
I only had a 13% at cow bison and 20% at sheep. Lot's of luck this year. I also got engaged a couple weeks ago - so life is good!
Pretty cool Don, hope you enjoy your hunt!
Looks like grizz country, sounds like your blessed with an adventure.
Congratulations on your engagement and fortunate about drawing your tags Don! Have a memorable hunting season.
Congrats on beating the 1:5 odds and the 90/10 barrier!
I need to rub your hair next Feb. are you a redhead by chance? Some old tale about rubbing the hair of a ginger for good luck.
Congrats to you on drawing your tags! I hope your luck and skill follows you on your hunt. Good luck fellow Ohio hunter.
