Who wants to go hunt the Buckshack ?

My hunting pard and I cannot make the hunt for this October 2022 on Kodiak and are looking for Bowsiters to take the spot. We have reserved Blacktail Bob's Buck Shack on the south end of Kodiak for Sitka Blacktails for the month of October 2022. It is an opportunity for a great adventure for 2 or 3 bowhunters. Threads have been shared on Bowsite about this bowhunt. I understand this is the last time Blacktail Bob will rent out the cabin. PM me for details and check out blacktailbobsbasecamp.com

As stated up top, the rental is for the whole month of October, so all the days in October. Of course you don't have to stay there the whole month!

If anyone is seriously considering this, but not pulling the trigger, DO it! Words can't do that place justice..... The buck shack is that little white dot above the end of the beach and you really want to go there.

Last year the bush plane was $2700, round trip for 2 people. I'm sure it has gone up.

I was considering it as a retirement Hunt, but after seeing pics of the shack sitting precariously on the side of that cliff(I think it was in Stekewood’s Hunt recap), I don’t think I’d ever get any sleep! My “healthy” fear of heights would probably overwhelm my rational thoughts that the shack was safely anchored to the mountain! ;-)

I can pretty much guarantee that I have the match to that caribou shed. I found it in the same place as your picture in 2017 buried in the moss just like your picture. Very cool. Did you take that side home?

Sorry guys. I was away bear hunting with no communications for a few days. I have tried to respond to all the PMs. Still open but some interest. Be sure to checkout www.blacktailbobsbasecamp.com for info. Try Island Air Service, Seahawk Air, Andrew Airways for bush flights. Just suggestions. I am sure some Bowsiters can chime in with who they flew with and who they liked.
Again, understand you can go hunt every day in October or just a few days. It's up to you. Same price

We used Taj also. He went above and beyond as we were weathered in Kodiak for the first 2 days and He supplied us with a van to use to do some sight seeing. We were in camp for 10 days but only got hunt for 5 as the wind and rains shut us down.

Taj is the best and if he can fly you, perfect. But he’s busier than a one arm paper stapler these days as he’s taking over his parents outfit on the Peninsula.
You’ll need a wheel plane to go to Bob’s place. But whoever you call in town for a flight will know that and point you in the right direction.
