Saw my first fawn this morning when walking back to check on my 2022 grafts. It’s was the smallest fawn I have ever seen. It couldn’t have been more than a few days old. It was walking with Mom when we all made eye contact. The fawn just dropped to the ground and didn’t move. Mom went bananas blew, stomped blew about 6 more times then bolted. On my return trip fawn and Mom were gone.

I saw one on the 25th and another one on the 28th. Both were really new.

May 21st at the farm in Indiana...earliest fawn I've seen. Wasn't a "newborn" either. Pulled up to a clover plot on the tractor and the fawn bolted from cover some 20 yards to my right and ran the full length of the plot (roughly 75 yards) and out of sight. Never saw anything like that in May before either!

Eh not that early Dana. I usually start seeing them the week after Memorial Day around here

Just got home from Ontario this evening. Went to check on a plot, and almost ran over this tiny little guy! Couldn’t have been over an hour old, at most. He got up on wobbly legs and made it a few yards over to some thicker weeds. We got out of there quickly, so momma could keep an eye on him.

No fawns around here this year. Couple days ago saw some running tracks in my driveway, checked them out --- deer with timber wolf tracks hot in pursuit. Did some mowing out back and saw fresh T wolf tracks in the soft dirt.

Had 3 bears on my "ring" camera sniffing around garage doors - I have to keep my garbage cans inside the garage.

My wife saw a coyote in our driveway this morning.

Killing machines everywhere around here.

No fawn tracks in my driveway like past years.

Sounds like you need to do a lil predator control! ;-)

My mom got to watch a 15-minute standoff between a fawn & a fox the other day; the fox was trying to attack from behind and Spot wasn’t having any of it - went after the fox with those little hooves while calling for back-up, and the fawn won the day.

Makes me wonder if the dam was watching from right nearby, letting the little one learn to fend for itself a bit, but prepared to step in if needed.

We’ve had 4 fawns pretty regularly here in the Poconos the last month or so. Looks like one doe with twins and 2 doe with one each. They hang around a lot together. Last week one got in our flower bed and got trapped by the deer netting. Had to let it out.............

Then on Saturday the twins ran into the backyard and bedded down behind my woodpile.
