The community in which I live has a Facebook page. Everyday there is a new posting from a mother pleading for information on the location of a specific type of formula they use to feed their newborn. They are stating they will drive any distance and pay within reason any price for the formula they need.

We have fallen so far as a country and are still falling at a rapid rate. When we make contact with the bottom it is going to be devastating for millions of Americans.

It is time for a roll call in this country to find out who has a back bone and a set and is willing to stand up for what is right and to lead us back to greatness.

I don't have kids, but just mentioned the same conversation to my wife. Makes no sense to me at all.

3) According to a report from Bloomberg, the U.S. Commerce Department published a report on May 27 showing that in April, the U.S. personal savings rate fell to the lowest point since Sept. 2008. Consumers are spending more on goods and services than before the coronavirus pandemic, even when adjusted for inflation, leaving far less money for savings.

Rocky, I try to look objectively at both sides and a) I like more of the GOP's positions but b) I intensely DISlike some of their positions. I dislike most of the Dem's positions as well.

As for their candidates, I firmly believe that every ballot should have a box for 'None of the above', and if that gets the most checks, both sides get sent back to the drawing board. Previous candidates disqualified from re-entry.

I would definitely have to agree with that statement. I have many family, friends, and acquaintances that voted for Trump in ’16. He hadn’t been in office long when I started hearing rumblings about their dislike of his narcissistic, in-your-face confrontational personality. By the time the election rolled around, those feelings of dislike had turned into full-blown hatred. What he had accomplished in office didn’t matter, so the majority of them voted for Biden. Didn’t matter who the democratic nominee would have been. It wasn’t an endorsement of Biden as much as it was a vote against Trump. There is no way in hell I could ever vote for a democrat, but I was definitely in the minority, so I wasn’t surprised that Biden was elected.

And therein lies the rub. I’m not saying he isn’t/hasn’t lied. But how many times has someone been accused of lying, when they were simply mistaken, or misunderstood? Did FOX news suggest otherwise? The economy is still pretty good despite the headwinds we are experiencing with inflation driven by high fuel prices and continued supply chain disruption. Despite that, we have continued very low unemployment, increasing wage growth, relatively low interest rates, and strong GDP growth up until 1Q22 which had a modest decline of 1.5%. My personal opinion is that we may technically fall into recession, but if we do it will be relatively modest and short-term in nature (2-3 more quarters). Most of the negative drivers are global in nature and not so much driven by any U.S.-centric policy, although I do believe our inflation will be slightly higher (1-1.5%) than our peer countries in Europe due to excess COVID-related stimulus. You can find many recent articles on the web by economists who hold similar views.
