Working at the guest ranch and heard all hell break loose. Sounded like something was getting killed down at the barn...... the thing is as big as him! He got a really bad cut lip and was pretty sore moving the rest of the day.

That old fella is a bad ass.

Our PA groundhogs look very similar to your marmot and we call them whistle pigs as well.

Dogs that can take out groundhogs on a regular basis have also reached that level of badassery. The groundhogs usually get some good licks in.

Dogs that really know how to kill just pick their spot and move in and then it is dead in a few chomps. Coon hounds that have been around the block are amazing at how they can kill.

Our poodle/cocker mix tries like hell to get the chipmunks, rabbits and groundhogs around the house but only seems to catch baby birds. Some friends come over a couple weeks ago with their wiener dog and that thing was a chipmunk killing machine that evening. Crazy how the slower wiener dog was able to catch the chipmunks with ease compared to our faster dog.

My whippet did the same quite a few years back. It tore it to pieces. I saved what I could ( it literally was a mess ) , and trow it in the barby for her to eat. She didn't care for it , so I fed it to my older whippet.

Cool pic, but he seems to be long-pawing it a little…

I know that marmots hang out mostly in rocky terrain, but can they climb trees? Years ago, my dog took off after a groundhog, that got caught out in the middle of the pasture. I figured the chuck was a goner, but he made it to the only tree in the pasture, and shinnied up that tree just like a dang squirrel! Until then, I had no idea they could climb trees.

nevermind..... I read the title wrong.... thought it was a blue pill ad......

Congrats to him, bet he was stuttin' around like a pup... Bet those things could put up a fight. Maybe not a 12 lb tomcat fight but pretty solid. =D
