Here's my best one. Was still in velvet when I arrowed him on Oct. 3. He was easily the biggest bodied mulie I've ever killed. He also had no testicles.
Nice deer GG.. I’d love to shoot a big Mulie. I probably won’t start running any cameras for another month. Can’t wait to see what Lithiums are going to cost this year.
Not the greatest pic and I couldn’t get one of him head on. He is ear width wide and living on Mn public land. Nothing special except that he is living on public land in Mn.
It's always interesting to see how they develop at vastly different rates. I have seen some that are nearly done by the end of June and others that really put on the inches toward the end of July and in to August. I have no early growers this year so still waiting to see what a couple develop into.
I can put on a 100 miles a day in prime areas here in may/June and see 100's of does n fawns. Very few sightings of bucks untill about mid July when the beans really start growing. Then the bucks get real visible.
Cali season starts on Sat. They have an Archery Only tag that i get every year. It allows you to hunt through all the gun seasons as well. Thats not advisable in this state. I have anotrher tag for Nov as well. That means i can hunt from July into Dec and can take 2 deer. Its tough huntin for sure. Good Luck everyone this year.
Really seems like the drought sucked all the nutrients out of the plants the last few years. Bucks seem to be way under developed in my area for this time of year.
Not sure how this ones going to turn out. I think good. Northeast Pa, on June 2nd. I need to go up and check. But try not to leave to big of a footprint. I about 2 weeks I'll check again. All my other cams I just put out 2 weeks ago. This deer pic, I put the camera out in turkey season, mid May. Don't even look to of turned inward yet. So hoping.
ZBone, yes, I recognize all of the 3.5 or older bucks. I’m still waiting on a bunch more especially two non typical bucks that were outstanding last year.
I planted a little 1 acre upland plot below my house. About a 1/4 mile from any significant cover. Deer have decimated the soybeans and sunflowers in my blend. Even though there’s 90 acres of ag beans literally 40 yards away. Finally put up a trail cam and got this guy in cam the first night
DH72....I took the liberty to embed your cool deer vid. If you weren't sure how to do it, it's super easy to do. Click on the "Share" link below the vid. Click on the "Embed" link. Copy/paste that entire link that pops up to your post here. That's all there is to it.
It seems like they are at least 2 weeks behind by me. Do you think they will finish strong or just not be as big? Asking about one deer in particular I had high hopes for this year.
Ike, It’s a cool spot. A pinch point between a big cattail marsh and a river. Safest way to hunt it is access it from the river. But it needs an easterly wind and prevailing winds are NW.
This is all I get out back, one's a 6, and one's an 8...8^)))
Funny thing, I was watching them for a while and a couple fawns came bouncing out running and frolicking around wanting to play... The basketracks seemed unnerved by the spotted guys and took off... Had to chuckle, big brothers didn't want any part of those energetic fawns...8^)
This will be 4th year hunting this one. Got a lot more massive this year but won’t be quite as tall as last year. I think he might be just shy of 60” of mass. Passed him up during late season last year because he broke off the end of his main beam and G3 literally the night before. Watching him every night in the neighbors bean field hoping he decides my buckwheat and brassicas will be more appealing pretty soon.
I'm 500 yards from them. That one in back is likely just over 170. Double g4s on both sides. Double brow and split 3 on his left. One on bottom has something funky going on with his hips.... he made a huge jump from last year to this year. Might crack 160 with all the palmation and extras. Probably 5 other 120-140 class deer in this field at the same time as these 2.
This buck I know pretty well... I have seen him while hunting and on camera since 2019. Seems like he spends more time on the neighbors across the road. I'm pretty confident he's 6..so he's got the game figured out by now. He'll be a hard one to put together an encounter with, but It won't be for lack of trying!
SaddleReaper- you have some giant deer man. The one I’m after is in my foodplot every night after dark, we’ll see how it ends up, he’s just coming out of velvet last night and tonight it looks like he’s completely out. Seems like he’s shifting his pattern back onto mine from the neighbors. Season starts in 11 days so a lot can change. This year he’s not as typical as the past two years but he’s starting to look pretty old, just in how he’s moving around. He’s super palmated this year and the webbing goes up almost halfway between his G3 and G4 on both sides. I’d be willing to bet those mass measurements will be over 10” by themselves, possibly a lot more. Sometimes I want to kick myself for not shooting him last year and having the rack repaired. He was standing next to the one I shot which was the dominant and believe it or not, more impressive buck. Time will tell. Good luck with the deer you are after!
