I have a cow tag for 34 type 6. Any chance elk will be in the blm early september ? 7000-8000 ft. Access will be an issue. Thanks for any info.

So you decided to jump over here after getting blasted on Monster Muleys? You should have read the requirements for the tag before you applied.

Yes when I applied I was in the hospital with an injury with very little time to research . Just want to ask if the elk might be at 8000 ft to 7500 ft in early september. Access is difficult in the unit But That's another matter.

Depends on the weather in the mountains. Hope for snow early

There will be some elk at those elevations at the time of your hunt.

Thank you just don't want to make the 30 hr drive if I don't even have a chance at one. Much appreciated !

I looked at that tag. I don't think it's legal on public until Oct 9.

I'm going to call wyoming game commission tomorrow. Tried the other day but there is currently a vacancy for the unit. Left a message for a public lands guy.

Don't need to call its all in the hunt planner.
34-6 is good aug 15 to oct 8 on private land within 1 mile of irrigated land
Oct.9 to Dec 31 or archery Sept 1 to 30 but NOT on national forest land

Since it says within 1 mile of irrigated land I would be making some phone calls to find the landowners that had that put into the regs, they need elk shot. Otherwise I would be on the BLM or state near ag fields to hunt early, or wait til late and snow moves the elk down some. Good luck, you'll need it. Private will be a paying hunt.

Access coordinator will know who those landowners are.

Good info WB, I forget about those folks and they deal with landowners more times than biologists in some areas.
