After watching different news stories on this, one clip in particular showed him giving a speech and he was coughing and complaining of a headache. This speech was last Friday I think? Given that piece of info....I now wonder if he did have the symptoms earlier but the WH is just now saying he has the virus? If the WH knew earlier and blocked or covered up the story, that will gin up some press coverage.

From the human side of things, I sincerely do hope he recovers well. He is high risk with his past/ongoing conditions....age, heart disease, stroke, cholesterol, clots, etc.

"Apparently there's still plenty fences to ride out there in South Dakota.."

Maybe, but I can guarantee you there's a lot more good old fashioned midwestern work ethic, common sense, and intelligence. The kind that says I would rather see our country and her citizens prosper. I don't care which party gets us there, I'm not going to pray for anyone to fail, our country to fail, or any ill will on anyone just because they aren't a republican or democrat. Wishing failure upon one party or the other at the detriment of our citizenry, economy, and safety is the basest definition of ignorance, hate, and fear.

"Many of us have too much stake in this country to hate it. We want it to stay the way it was founded. If that’s a problem for you, you might want to move to another country. Most of us will be here to fight for it if we need to. Make sure you choose the correct side"

Ah yes, we're here to fight. Who are you fighting exactly? Our officials who were elected by the people in accordance with the constitution I swore to defend in our armed forces? Other citizens who disagree with you politically which is their constitutional right? I love this argument. "I'm here to fight" Were you at the capitol on January 6? Those "patriots" could have used your help or are you talking about just keyboard fighting?

From: 70lbDraw

“I don't care which party gets us there, I'm not going to pray for anyone to fail, our country to fail, or any ill will on anyone just because they aren't a republican or democrat.”

It’s not a ‘Republican/Democrat issue. It’s an American issue. The current admin has no interest whatsoever in seeing America prosper. The only thing they care about is their own bank account and power grab.

So, please tell us what is being done to make things better. Unsecured borders, high gas prices, putting other countries before our own, pushing climate change, etc.??? The only reason this is a bipartisan thing is because the Democrats hated Trump because he isn’t part of their cult, and he threatened to break it up. Please, correct me if I’m wrong.

From: Brotsky
22-Jul-22
Unsecured borders have been an issue forever. Neither party is doing a damn thing to address the real issues with immigration in this country. One party loves to use it as a political talking point and the other party loves to use it as a source of uneducated voters.

High gas prices? Well when demand goes up, there's a war in Ukraine, and you shut pipelines down, OPEC does their thing, etc of course gas prices are going to go up! They went up and down under other presidents as well. This one certainly hasn't helped matters any!

Putting other countries before our own? Us helping other countries isn't putting them in front of us. We've done that since this nation was founded! We've always had problems, we always will, but we will also always be a bastion of freedom in the world and help les fortunate nations.

Climate change is a real thing. Whether or not people cause it or can do a damn thing about it is another matter entirely and I'm not sure we can. Does it hurt to try a few things? Probably not. Denying the climate is changing is ignorant AF because it clearly is. We probably can't do a damn thing about it but it's definitely changing!

The end of the day neither party is doing anything other than trying to maintain power and fill their pockets. Don't put one on a pedestal over the other because thy both want the same thing, it's just a little different flavor depending on who has the power at the moment. The flavor for the rest of us is shit sandwich. I tend to vote Republican most of the time because their shit sandwich is cheaper! Ha!

Wait, when’s the next election?!? :-)

A study released Wednesday found that about half of all Americans expect a civil war to occur “in the next few years.” Researchers from the University of California-Davis Violence Prevention Research Program and the California Violence Research Center reported that 50.1 percent of survey respondents said they at least somewhat agree that a civil war will happen soon, while 47.8 percent disagreed.

How do you quantify feelings LMAO? If you look at the political leanings of domestic terrorists they overwhelmingly are alt-right.

“ Since 2015, right-wing extremists have been involved in 267 plots or attacks and 91 fatalities, the data shows. At the same time, attacks and plots ascribed to far-left views accounted for 66 incidents leading to 19 deaths.”

I guess if they do that I'm going to have to pick up an M1 Garand since they didn't make the list. 8^)

Democrats are so stupid they cheer their lawmakers for protesting at SCOTUS weeks after a ruling. Rather than to expect them to do their jobs and write law to fix it.

Which is of course their plan, to tie emotions to voter turn out. If they fixed it by law their voter base wouldn't turn out. They would just go back to grooming the kiddies and Republicans would get more seats.

KS, this is from your source:

Second, U.S. law enforcement agencies have increasingly become a target of domestic terrorists from all sides of the political spectrum. The government, military, and especially law enforcement were the primary targets of domestic terrorist attacks and plots in 2021, composing 43 percent of all attacks. They were most likely to be targeted regardless of perpetrator ideology: they were selected in 48 percent of violent far-left events, 37 percent of violent far-right events

So...almost half of the "Domestic Terrorist Plots/attacks", were against Police and Military? And...The majority of those, were during "violent far left events" (and, of course, "ANTIFA" never misses a "far Right Event").

Not much room left there, to establish a majority by "Right Wing Extremists". If you add in all the deaths from gang violence in the Major Hubs, who exactly is the real threat in this Country? Asking for a friend...

From: JL
23-Jul-22
I didn't want to deviate from the original post. However that CSIS report is interesting. They are a Wash DC think tank tied to Georgetown University. The one thing I noticed after reading the report is there is a bias built into it and a neglect of identification and accountability within events. For example...the report mentions numerous far-right extremists groups by name/events several times within the report....no problem there. It lists one ANTIFA group by name/event several times within the report....no problem there. It only mentions BLM once within the report and that is in a positive light at the beginning....that is a glaring bias problem.

I believe they intentionally use a narrow definition of domestic terrorism to selectively exclude certain events and rename them as "civil disturbances" instead of "riots" to water down the verbiage and image portrayed. Renaming and "re-imaging" acts and behaviors allows them to confer those events and behaviors are not violent or used to influence or coerce others or policy. In deckplate terms....is rioting, looting and trespassing violent and coercive? That is an element in the definition of terrorism CSIS purports to use as the basis for the data.

IAW with this CSIS report.......

""""The brief does not analyze the broad topic of hate speech or hate crimes, though hate speech and hate crimes are clearly concerning. There is some overlap between hate crimes and terrorism since some hate crimes include the use or threat of violence. However, some hate incidents, such as graffiti, do not involve the use or threat of violence.9

The brief also does not include other forms of civil disturbance or criminal activity outside of the definition of terrorism, such as looting or trespassing. Some of these disturbances do not involve violence, and many individuals that participate in these activities lack political goals or an intention to cause broad psychological impact.

However, the data set does include terrorist attacks committed by demonstrators, attacks targeting demonstrators, and attacks intentionally timed to occur alongside demonstrations, often to obscure the identity or the intent of the perpetrators. """"

The point being....if this CSIS report were to follow the domestic terrorism definition of 18 U.S. Code §?2331 that claim they do, I suspect we would see more inclusion of certain "disturbances" in their data. That would then change their data...ie....the number of domestic terrorist events and who committed them.

The report could have exhibited some positive credibility if it identified national promoters and facilitators of violence preceding and within domestic terrorist events.

From: KSflatlander

Biden doctor provides update on president's COVID-19 condition by Ryan King, Breaking News Reporter | July 23, 2022 04:10 PM

President Joe Biden's COVID-19 symptoms are continuing to improve, according to his physician.

Medical personnel believe that he was most likely infected by the BA.5 variant that has been sweeping the nation over recent weeks. Biden's vital signs are normal, and his symptoms include a sore throat, rhinorrhea, a loose cough, and body aches, Biden’s physician Dr. Kevin O'Connor said.

"The President is responding to therapy as expected. The BA5 variant is particularly transmissible, and he will continue to isolate in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations," O'Connor said in an update released Saturday. "We will continue to monitor him closely during this very common outpatient treatment regimen."

Biden received his second full day of Paxlovid treatment Friday. Doctors have given him Tylenol, low doses of aspirin as an alternative to blood thinners, and an albuterol inhaler to treat his cough. The fact that he may have contracted the BA.5 variant has not affected the treatment plan for him, O'Connor said.

The president is not experiencing shortness of breath, and his vital signs appear normal.

"His voice remains deep. His pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and temperature remain entirely normal. His oxygen saturation continues to be excellent on room air. His lungs remain clear," the doctor said.

Biden tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday after having traveled to Massachusetts the previous day to deliver a speech on climate change. The White House quickly released a photo showing Biden working and claiming to be busy in an apparent bid to assuage concerns about the health of the 79-year-old president. Biden is believed to have avoided the virus for the duration of the pandemic until his positive diagnosis Thursday.

An update from me: pic.twitter.com/L2oCR0uUTu — President Biden (@POTUS) July 21, 2022

Officials remain unsure where he contracted the virus from and have been working to conduct contact tracing with anyone who might have been near him while he was infected. First lady Jill Biden is believed to be in Delaware while her husband receives treatment for the virus.

Vice President Kamala Harris was considered a close contact, but she has not tested positive recently. She had contracted the virus in April.

Uneducated folks..lol

We have a lot of Harvard grads in DC that don't know their azz from a hole in the ground. It doesn't take education to be wise..not that education is a bad thing.

Affirmative rights is forcing a company to hire certain individuals... that is not freedom! It's one thing when a state or any form of government sanctions racist laws such as Jim Crowe laws..but it's another thing when the gov tells the private sector who they can and cannot hire. The left always commits the very act they claim to be fighting against.

Leftist are tolerant as long as you agree with them. Then we have the so called "conservatives" that don't even know what being conservative is.

Higher education can be a good thing but without wisdom you are just an educated fool.

From: KSflatlander
24-Jul-22
I agree that wisdom and experience matter just as much. But if 99% of your experience comes from a 100 mile radius then don’t expect to gain much wisdom on things outside of that bubble. Higher education and getting outside your comfort zone helps. Relationships with others with a different perspective (there’s that word again) is essential to gaining wisdom.

Of course We all know some highly educated people with no real world experience. Same goes for experienced people with no higher education. My statement was a generalization so naturally there are many examples that don’t fit as generalizations don’t hold water. Absolutely. I know hunters that “know” the woods better than a biologist. They can tell you names of the flora and fauna and maybe some of the habits, habitats, and behavior. They “know” the woods but they don’t understand the ecosystem or the micro biome…essentially the why. Some may know how an engine works but they don’t understand oxidation/combustion.

“A man and a woman...they go together..natural law.”

I guess you better tell dolphins, monkeys, some insects, and bat species about that natural law thing. What if your born with both sexes? God created them that way right?

“Some of our higher educators are seeking to make it illegal if parents tell their child it's wrong to be homosexual or transgender.”

So what. There are a lot of people that want to make stupid laws. Why would you waste energy on something that is obviously unconstitutional. Good grief. Parents can tell their kids whatever they want. This is completely a BS argument. White nationalists want to discriminate against minorities too and make interracial marriage illegal. Who cares. If you don't see that a man and a woman together is a natural thing, then you are in denial. I've never seen two of the same sex procreate..there is a reason for that. What people do is their business..but my point is the leftist that you defend want to force me to accept something that is against nature itself. You don't have to be a Christian to figure that out. Your argument for monkeys, ect is not a valid argument. God created us for a certain purpose..we fall short because of our sin nature. That's true whether you choose to believe it or not.

I can get on I-10 west bound out of Alabama and believe with all my heart I'm headed to Florida but no matter how I feel about it I'm headed in the wrong direction. There are absolute truths..we are free to ignore or not believe it but our choices don't change the truth.

I never said it was a “natural” thing. You said it was natural law. Its an ecological dead end for most multicellular organisms. True. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen in nature cause we know it does regardless of what you have seen. This is the “why” I’m talking about and you in your bubble yet again.

You mean “accept” by letting them live their lives as you get to. Freedom of expression.

“Your argument for monkeys, ect is not a valid argument. God created us for a certain purpose..we fall short because of our sin nature.”

Didn’t God create monkeys too? Are they sining? Maybe you should take them a Bible.

“There are absolute truths..we are free to ignore or not believe it but our choices don't change the truth.“

This is true and found in science…as far as we understand the universe. In regards of human behavior and society there are few if any absolute truths. Remember, the Bible says the earth is the center of the universe and everything revolves around it. We know absolutely it’s not even the center of our galaxy. Why did that once absolute truth change? Because our perspective (again there is that word) changed and our education and “wisdom” increased through science. You call them absolute truths and they are from your perspective. But not everyone shares your perspective.

I noticed you didn’t answer my previous questions. Likely because your absolute truths conflict with the answers.

So the Democrat Socialist Party is the Party of “free markets” and “autonomy” per our registered liberal

I never said that. I said the Republicans have thrown that out in favor of populism. And it's Peter Zeihan who characterizes the shift in the Republican party best. Out with the Maps and Maths crowd, in with the Populists. To hell with free trade, free labor markets, and libertarian social ideals. Hello nationalism, populism, and protectionism.

"But it all comes down to the role of the populists. Populists on the right are a mixed bag of folks that in general are very unhappy with some state of affairs. Their issues shift and manifest differently, but ultimately it can be summed up that they believe someone is screwing them and/or the country and they want it to stop. NOW! That typically makes them prickly on issues cherished on the Left – race, changing cultural norms, immigration, government intervention in their economic lives. But it also makes them prickly on issues traditionally owned by the Right – big business, banking, a government that does too little. The rise of social media didn’t simply allow the Bernie Sanders crowd to make an over-sized splash in the political pool, it also enabled the populists of the right to seize control of the Republican primary system and put their man on the ticket.

Trump’s rise to prominence was only possible because of the populist rise, and the populists broadly distrust not just the Left, but other portions of the Republican alliance. The populists’ reliable outrage combined with Trump’s trademark political-wind-detection and volatile personality has largely ejected the fiscal, national security and business factions from the Republican coalition – not to mention the Trump White House. All that is left are the populists and the narrow-issue categories of pro-lifers and Evangelicals.

Trump has figured out that the American political landscape is now so fractured – Democrats, Republicans and centrists all – that this narrow base is sufficient to sustain him in a first-past-the-post system in the short term. While many find Trump’s tweeting and shouting and rambling press conferences shocking and offensive and bewildering, he is not speaking to the “many.” He is speaking to this base, and so long as he keeps speaking to them they will stick with him to Armageddon.

This is obviously not sustainable in the long run, but that doesn’t mean it is not normal. The coalitions that make up the two American parties are not carved in stone. A quick read of American political history indicates this is the fifth time the two parties have broken down. Each time they reform with a different mix of factions. Keep in mind that before these seismic, party-smashing upheavals went down last time in the 1930s and 1940s, the African-Americans were Republicans while business leaders were Democrats. Times change. The parties change with them. But such change hardly happens overnight. Historically speaking, these political interregnums last about a decade. We are barely in year three."

...or Trump was viewed as that bad by that many people that it prompted them to get out and vote for change.

They are cooperating with everyone but the PEOPLE

Then the people can vote them out. That's how it works. I know in many ways that's a simplification - political parties aren't single issue and thereby our chosen representatives may not always align with us (even when we vote for them). This is also compounded by the fact that our political systems are generally built on a first-past-the-post structure (you don't need a majority of votes to win...just one more than the second place finisher). With that said, we do have representative democracies and if the "PEOPLE" truly aren't being heard, then we have the opportunity to choose someone that we think will. Remember the "PEOPLE" isn't just farmers worried about their livelihoods - it is the entire voting base.

I think this is the Prez's 2nd round. I was thinking it may actually be from his 1st time...he was partially clean, tested negative and it flared back up.

Obviously the injection is not very effective…

Safe… Not likely either…

The more that comes out about these shots, the more I’m convinced I made the right decision to not take it!

I live in a purple area. Most of the left leaning people I know can see the giant failures on every issue and regret their part in it. What they haven't come to terms with yet is that the giant stack of terrible policy moves is purposeful and not simply incompetence.

That little inner voice screaming to them that no group of even average intelligence people could be so wrong on so many issues by accident is getting louder. Just hard to swallow being that wrong and accepting what that means about the real agenda being pursued.

stealthycat, (almost) no one at the "rubber meets the road" point in Public Health believed that narrative. The response was two-layered, one layer was propaganda and the other a measured practical response. The goal was never to prevent any single person or group from contracting, the goal was to prevent a sudden wave of severe infections that would overwhelm the medical community. That never happened. I personally don't think there was ever a potential for it. Either it was an opportunistic "live drill ", (God forbid) AN INTENTIONAL trial run, or the PH community misjudged it based on it being a "novel " (new to the human population) virus. Of course I'm not an epidemiologist or a medical professional. In the aftermath the message is and will be that we were "saved " by an aggressive and appropriate response. I misdoubt this.
