I typically don’t buy lottery tickets but…. Today I just might
$1.1 billion
Yeah, wife and I talked about that too. Might have to spend $10.00
Buy me a nice little island...like...Anticosti ;-)
You’d have a better chance at harvesting a world record buck with an atlatl.
I have never bought a lottery ticket but I spend more money on diet coke. Might have to buy a ticket
I hardly ever get tickets. Never buy scratch tickets. But when the price gets this high, I’m in.
tax on stupidity but you never know...
I'm with MAPA. Not a lotto person, but I just recycled a bunch of can's and got like 5.35 back, so to the local minimart I go! Worst case, I just took a lighter to 2 bucks.
I deer hunt and flyfish/tie flies. So I'm used to taking a lighter to money ha ha ha!
the Leader of Ukraine has won the lottery without buying a ticket .
70lb draw
“ So what your saying is there’s a chance” :>))))
No thanks, like my life as is... I need to change a couple issues, but winning a lottery is not my dream.
Seems like a tax on people who are bad at math.... ??
It's a voluntary tax. Be a chunk of money though, even after the gov gets through rapping it
The sign I drove by yesterday said it was only $999 million….
I'd like to try "rich" just once before I check out.
But looks like I'd have a better chance wining the lottery.
It's a complete waste of money and I hardly ever by tickets but I have spent $12 this week on the mega millions. It has been worth that much just thinking a little about what you could accomplish and who you could help with that kind of money. Someone eventually will win some big money, but it won't be me. Probably ruin my life anyway...
Old Bow get over it man! Why don’t you get an apartment with AzAhole so you guys can talk about it all day and night. Get a life man!
I'm in! I want some GrizzlyStik arrows and Bishop broadheads!!!
I view it as a "what if" entertainment expense. Just like going to the casino. If you go (or play) expecting to hit the big one....plan on being disappointed. Go (or play) for entertainment only. Win or lose....it's a form of entertainment just like spending bucks to go see the newest Top Gun flick and hoping it's good. It's a lot less stressful that way and you don't get caught up in the cycle that ruins people.
I'll buy some tickets today hoping it leads to a win...if not...that's cool, it was fun to talk about it.
My threshold has always be 2.5B. Not wasting my money for only 1.1B upside.
Come by I'll sell you some. I bought one for this one and the last. But almost never buy them and technically I get them at a discount.
BTW.....if I came across a large chunk of coin like this.....I'd donate to
Several USCG foundations/orgs/VFW/DAV that help the guys and gals
A scholarship for military spouses and kids
The military Chaplin Corp....need more of them
Tunnels to Towers/Wounded Warriors
A couple of nice places where disabled vets can go for free to hunt and fish. Hire Uncle Ted to run them.
Charities that help kids....St Judes, the Tim Tebow Foundation, etc.
If I win I am buy Troy's farms!
I rarely buy lottery tickets. Rarely as in never have bought one. And that won’t change in this lifetime.
$3 not $2. silly not to play the multiplier
I think I will try identifying as a rich white dude..think that will work? Lol
I've always been of the school of thought that the odds of BUYING the winning ticket are almost the same as FINDING the winning ticket. If it's meant to be, I'll see a scrap of paper blowing across the parking lot as I walk to the truck one day and bingo! LOL
John buy a farm with some 200”ers walking around! Troy shoots em all at 196-198 ;) hahaha!
If I win, I'd buy t-roy and his farms. I'll need him to maintain the plots of course :). I'll probably also buy Dale06 a lottery ticket :)
smarba, I think you're right! I bet the odds of finding a winning ticket are BETTER than buying one:)
I almost never buy tickets also but one of our firefighters was in a horrible accident last weekend and that money could get her worries on trying to heal and not on medical bills prosthetics ect
Orion will be along shortly to explain how picking the winning mega millions tickets has better odds than some one drawing a CO moose tags with 20 weighted points.
Even 2nd Prize pays out $5million
I'm not greedy.....I'll take a 9th place.
"tax on stupidity but you never know..."
Yeah, I've heard it termed a tax on people who are bad at math.
I got 5 on Wednesday. I only get them when its up over 600 mil or so. My brother buys the hell out of them all the time. Maybe if he wins , he will help a brotha out!
We go in a pool when the game gets huge . Hundred bucks a pop each man . A lawyer , couple deputies , a pilot , restaurant owner , and some other business men . You just never know . I see it as money well spent . I don't plan on leaveing when I go my old lady's new found younger boyfreind much of my money too play with her , and travel the world etc . LOL ! Get the picture ? Drawings not till 11est . Some of you's still in time to buy a couple tickets , no guts no glory !!! .......
Not worth it, you’ll only get like 600million
Up to 1.28 billion now. The cash option will be right at $750 million to a single winner.
Like I said......I'm not greedy. I'll settle for 1% of 1.28 billion.
At the local bar where I got two tickets already told the hot barmaid if I win she's got a million LOL. Of course if I had to split she'd only get half of that!!
Like going to a casino for me. How much am I willing to pay for a little entertainment?
.
Not much entertainment with a lotto ticket so if I was in the store today I might buy one.
My sister in law loves some scratch offs. She hit 100g once.
Good luck to those taking a shot....
It’s always stupid to buy a lottery ticket, but sometimes it’s crazy not to.
Actually about 25 years ago there was a math professor in Denver who came home with a couple of lottery tickets and his wife called him out on it. And he said “but dear, you don’t understand. These tickets have positive anticipated value.“
Apparently the odds of winning were 12 million to one, and the jackpot was up to 13 million. So he bought the tickets. And he won.
So these tickets have like a four dollar anticipated value, so that’s pretty good. Reminds me, though, of the Bruce almighty movie, when the guy becomes god and says yes to all the people who were praying to win the lottery, and they all won it in the same drawing.
But the drawing is on SATURDAY night, yes?
I enjoy gambling on things I know a little about, like sports for example. The lotto is nothing but pure chance. I’ve never wasted any money on it.
Matt
Never bought one in my life but eventually someone wins it. It just ain’t gonna be me. ;-)
So you have any idea what kind of headaches come with $600,000,000…
No thanks
If I have to wait behind another lotto ticket buyer to pay for my coffee at the gas station, I’m likely to make a scene.
Matt
"So you have any idea what kind of headaches come with $600,000,000… "
I got a bottle of aspirin and I'd like to find out ;-)
At 4:30 am, gas station coffee seems like a luxury, until you wait on some lotto ticket bozo with a debit card that doesn’t work.
Matt
Lottery is cash only in my state. Don’t know about others. BTW I’m in for the win!!!!
He paid for his lotto tickets in cash. It was his donuts and cigs that he couldn’t pay for with his debit card. I nearly lost it.
Matt
What are the 5 most common Mega Millions numbers? USA Mega, which tracks Mega Millions statistics, says the most common Mega Millions numbers are 17, 10, 14, 31 and 4 for the first five numbers.

Where are the most Mega Millions winners? California takes the prize for the most Mega Millions jackpot winners during that span, with six lucky players. That's followed by five winners in New York, four in New Jersey and three in Illinois. Notably, population heavyweights Texas and Florida have had few Mega Millions winners since 2016.
What are the taxes on 1 billion dollar lottery win? The $1.1 billion jackpot payout will be taxed as ordinary income, according to Tom O'Saben, a director at the National Association of Tax Professionals. Drawing was earlier tonight and no winners have been identified yet so maybe it’ll be even higher next week. I worked for the company, IGT, that owns and runs the lottery system for 28 years (GTECH acquired the company I worked for, which was IGT, in early 2015 and kept the IGT name). Before I retired I wasn’t allowed to play but now I can but I haven’t done so, maybe that’ll change if no one won tonight.
I don’t know much about how it’s run but I do know when the jackpots go up this high the revenue generated for states and IGT is astronomical. I also know the IGT service team has a logistical nightmare trying to supply enough paper for tickets.
I just sold a 9mm pistol via M&M and I met the guy in Evanston, Wyo as he was from Rock Springs, Wyo.
I thought about buying some Wyo Lotto tix but I just don't buy them, so I didn't.
Good luck to all you that bought and hope ya win it---------->
Big Mon$y,
Robb
Sadly, this is some people's retirement plan.
I never play unless somebody pools money at work. If they all won and I had declined to get in, I'd be laying on the railroad tracks out behind the parking lot.
Lol, I bought $20 worth yesterday. Had the kids pick some numbers and whatnot for fun. Turns out I bought Powerball instead of MegaMillions. I didn't even know there was a difference! Lol, I'm not a lotto guy.
A single jackpot winner in Illinois. Multiple match-5 winners
Cat, Powerball tonight is up to $170 million, you could still afford a new bow ;-)
I won $4.....congrats to the big winner and good luck going forward.
Lol, ya but who wants just $170 million? It was funny when I explained to the kids that I had messed up and bought the wrong tickets (that would only be good for the $170M). They seemed ok with it!
When I first started as an Electrician ( apprentice) in NYC all the guys on the job chipped in when the lottery was a fair amount and bought tickets.
We lost but the foreman had me go buy a ticket for next week with last week’s winning numbers and stick it in the pile…
He had another apprentice check the numbers mayhem ensued… he was so excited he called him mom and told her to quit her job that’s when the foreman stepped in…
haha....Shug! I did that to my wife-at-the-time. Snuck the ticket out of her purse and wrote the numbers down. Told her I got the numbers off Powerball when they ran the numbers that night on TV and read them off to her. Realized this wasn't going to be funny for her at all when seeing the look on her face thinking she'd won. That may have been the beginning of the end of us.
"Yeah, I've heard it termed a tax on people who are bad at math."
there are lots of taxes on folks who are bad at math...lottery tickets and buying coffee at a gas station are just two examples.
I've bought three lottery tickets in my life. The first while visiting Nacogdoches Texas for a cycling event in the 90's. The state lottery (no powerball yet) reached a record so I bought one chance. I won $70. The drawing was pretty exciting as I had the first four numbers. The little old lady at the convenience store who paid my ticket gave me this advice: "Don't play again! Don't give the money back! And for God's sake don't think for a second that you are GOOD at playing the lottery".
I did buy two more tickets since. One loser and a $20 winner in Fla that I gave to my daughter to buy lunch.
About the same odds as a desert ram tag.
Guy got 5/6 from the same damn store I bought my tickets from. 2 million I think
