I tend to agree with Shug. That looks to be a young bear.

What was that line in Jaws about long legged women Lewis

My guess is he lost a lot of hair on his legs giving the illusion his legs are skinny and tall compared to his upper body.

Young bear, think young man long lanky, all legs and arms. With that said bears are short, long, round, blocky, etc.

Ears are very large compared to the head. Sure way to tell a small bear.

If this works here a pic of a deer standing about the same place. I do believe the bear is standing further back then the deer for comparisons.

Heres not a zoomed in pic to try to compare with the deer above.

I live in a high bear population area and get to see lots of bear each year. I agree its a young bear. I can get a dozen or more bear pictures a year. Cubs, small, medium and large. I've seen cubs a little smaller than a beagle to bears as large as 600+ lbs. Never got a picture of or saw one with legs that look that long.

Young boar.

I think that is a legit long legged bear. We've had similar bears on camera as well. It definitely isn't common, but anomalies do exist. There is no distortion there, it's just a long legged bear.

Agree, young or old - long legs for sure. Might be interesting to see what he might develop into in a few years?

Huntiam, years back i and a friend was given a red born. We would take her cool hunting a few times her would run bear that was in the corn fields where we went to hunt coon. Sure wish I could of run her on a hunt for bear someplace. Did some cat hunting in Mt years back, that was fun.

I'm impressed with the legs on that bear the same way I'm impressed with the brow tines on a pure spiker ;)

Ed- no doubt an adaptation due to being hunted by a particularly good archery bear hunter. He can get by your stand much quicker.................. ;-)

Id have said young / skinny OR camera distortion... It's pretty wild looking in the image - like a grey hound bear.

I still think it is in part due to shedding the winter hair giving the illusion of long legs. Here is a pic from Alexis's thread.
