Any Hard Horns Yet?
Earliest I seen whitetails shed their velvet was August 27th...
In Florida they are. Grunting too!
I’ve got pictures of a buck shedding velvet yesterday. I’m in Arkansas. Early for this area. Usually early to mid September before they are hard horned.
I have about 25 bucks I can see from my recliner each night. Often I go out and look at them with a spotting scope.
Zero are hard horned.
Still velvet coated here in Sw VA probably finished growth though
I haven’t seen a whitetail hard horned in august however I found this guy in Wyoming in 2017 that was on august 28th.
In Northern MI.....I start getting hard/bloody horns on video OOA Sept 6th/7th and on. I went back to review my vid library and that is pretty consistent on the private property I'm on.
A friend was a buck out of velvet a week ago in WV, never seen one this early.
Lowcountry SC has plenty out of velvet right now. Season opened 08/15
I saw a picture this morning of a hard horned whitetail here in CO from yesterday.
Central Montana. Saw first one today. Probably a 3.5 year old 8 point. Nice buck.
Still nothing hard. Fun to look at though....
My first one was last night
First i had on cams was 8/29 this year A little forky
Nephew just sent me a pic of a hard horned 8 in Central Mich area tonight
Same time year in/year out. Starts late August and is done by September 10th. (Few exceptions. )
I had one in the back yard shed velvet on the 18th of august in north Georgia. Never seen one shed velvet that early. Now 2 of the 3 that visit my back yard have shed velvet.
The forky I seen from the stand had shed his velvet.
But this guy showed up tonight on a mock scrape. He appears to still have velvet.
Michael - Did he work the scrape?
Haven't seen a buck for a couple weeks but have a doe out back that already shed to grey...
Zbone, I don’t think so. I only got 2 pics of him. First one was behind the scrape and the second pic was the one I posted.
Last night when I hunted that spot. I did see a scrape on the field edge. Not sure if it was from him or not. This small piece has 3 different bucks I have pics of.
Blacktail in Washington have been hard horned for weeks.
Same deer same day better pic
All hard in SE Michigan in my area anyway...
Just had a hard one go by me in SE Nebraska. (Small 8 pointer)
