Well at this moment I should be sitting along a salmon stream in Alaska Grizzly hunting. I booked a hunt with Denali and was supposed to head out Saturday the 3rd. Stan had been in touch a couple times the week prior voicing concerns over the high river and lack of bears.
Friday the second he called and canceled and slotted me in the same week next year. Most outfitters would have had me come and had a substandard hunt… Kudos to Stan!! Right after the bear hunt I was headed a couple hours NW of Anchorage for moose with Blacktail Bob…so now I’ll just fly out for that on the 11 th and I’ll have one extra arrow… Again cheers to Denali hunts
That outfitter has character. You are fortunate to be booked with him.

Nice to read a positive thread about an outfitter instead of all the normal whining and complaining. Stan's solution to the problem obviously cost him money but was the ethical thing to do on your behalf.
I'd assume that this outfitter must have apprenticed under an outfitter who probably taught him to do right by his clients...!

Johnny laird of muskeg excursions did that for me back in 2004 after the hunt he and pat did in 03 fizzled out. SaId he would not take anyone else on that hunt.

Stan is definitely a class act. I’ve hunted with him a few times, and he doesn’t blow smoke, (except the one time we had some minor plane issues) :-) He is always upfront and honest about the hunting situation, expectations, etc. He’s a fun guy to share a camp with, as well.
Sorry to hear about your bear hunt, Shug, but it will be worth the wait!
Back a few years, Stan donated a combo Griz/moose hunt to P&Y. My wife won that hunt and had the time of her life! If I ever hunt grizzly, it will be with Stan!
