Bear with blond back in co 34 crossing 20 yards from me. Had a larger bear (300lbs I guess) at 12 yards licking his chops and watching me wave my arms and talk to him about leaving. He was calm. I was calm. But I wanted him scared and running away. Popped the safety of the bear spray and gave it a short burst.....pllllllbbbbbbb....just bubbled brown crap and did not work. So Glock .10mm is in hand now but I don't wanna shoot him unless he tries to cover that 12 years. Eventually he wandered off. Crazy experience.

I would like to hear what you thoughts of the Wyoming area as far as pressure and opportunity on elk. How many moose did you see and how were grouse numbers? Weather didn't help I'm sure. Best of luck rest of your archery season.

Up above sand lake my buddy reported tons of moose. Two on the trail in the dark and several more later that day. I had 2 moose on camera. Tons of water and feed for them. My buddy prolly saw a dozen in 9 days. Elk bugled like it was full on rut from day one of season. Many close encounters with elk....none with hunters. Elk were not responsive to calling.....often walked away and/or circled downwind and busted.....again per my buddy. I saw 3 grouse total in 4 days.

Interesting, thank you. Any chance he gets to come back later in Sept.? Not responsive to calling sounds about right for early season up there, we've had to be in close to get aggressive responses early. Saw this morning, Fire Restrictions went into affect on MBNF, Snowy Range included.
