It has been a long time since I’ve posted something like this. I used to do it at least once a year, but haven’t for a while. No real solid reason, I just haven’t. I guess I was feeling nostalgic today, so here are a few pics from my time during Covid around North America.

During the winter, I received an unusual message from the board of the North Dakota Bowhunters Association. They were looking for a guest speaker for the annual convention and had accidentally messaged me.

It seemed they were too embarrassed to admit they were looking for someone better to entertain them with bowhunting stories and before I knew it, my wife and I were in North Dakota for the event.

I got to sign the shirt for guest speakers and I’m not sure how my name got on the same spot as some of these other bowhunters.

I have been very fortunate to see some amazing places and have some unbelievable experiences over the years. But I have also had some excellent luck come my way in some big moments. This was my third sheep hunt and third ram with a bow. I know I say this every time, but I don’t know if I will ever do it again. However, I do know for certain that every time something turns out well on hunts anymore, I am more and more thankful for the encounter going my way. So often, it does not for a bowhunter. Things are different now than they were during the height of Covid. Work is busy again and it will always require more of my attention. There is a stronger desire to stay home much more than to travel like I have before. And I FEEL a lot older than I always have.

Things change and will continue to do so. At some point Covid will be completely over and things will change again. I don’t know how much of what I will be doing in the future, but am definitely grateful for good opportunities, good luck and most of all, good buddies.

Missed this in September.

Zack - It’s too bad that you don’t seem to have any fun, interact with interesting characters or have varied, successful hunts and are forced to post these maudlin threads… seems reasonable that some people could find it exhausting to be around you.

Congrats on everything. Great job beating Covid. Great animals. Great guys to hunt with. Great thread recapping it all.

Here’s to hoping you top it going forward.

My only suggestion would be to get rid of the Bud Light.

Cheers. Short bloodtrails.

Great stuff Zack and company!! Some "hardcore" moments on this trip!

I have a good feeling that there is going to be some real adventures shared on here with your move to Alaska. You're already doing a great job of wringing everything you can out of the last frontier.
