I have scouted this buck most of the summer. Season opened Sept 1. I Saw the buck almost every time I went out but could never get a shot. Well this evening he finally made a mistake and I got lucky. 43 yard shot. Quartering a way shot so my arrow passed through the off shoulder. When he jumped it broke the back 8" of my arrow off. When I gutted the deer that back part of the arrow was still in the heart. After not being able to hunt last year due to battling cancer it was sure nice to get out this year. Still couldn't do a good elk hunt but this was a good one. Recovery distance was about 50 yards. I will add pictures from my phone in a minute.
