That might be the ugliest big bull elk I've ever seen. Lot of protein and growth hormone I'm betting.

11-Oct-22
And to top it off, either that bull has a 5-foot scapula, or there’s just a weeee bit of long-arming going on there….

Well, not “long-arming”, I guess, because he’s sitting too far away from it to even touch the rack…..

At least Jimmy John got a pony ride outta the deal.

I thought Broadmouth offered both high fence and free range? I know two guys who went to BM and hunted the fence. Both came home with raghorns.

Garbage. All high fence operations should be shut down. I hunted pronghorn with a guy that used to "guide" on a high fence whitetail operation and he told me a the obscene things they did to the deer to get a "hunter" on them. It involved darting, sedating, and moving the deer to different confinements.

Great post on another forum.

“ So there I was..... 500 acre of fenced in wilderness.

I walked to the 4th fence post like I was instructed.

My heart raced as I heard the metal gate being opened.... I knew my hunt had started!”

Game farms have long known how to produce huge freaky antlers. It isn't natural and it damn sure isn't hunting. It's perversion.

The shooter has a look in his face like he is wondering if his cc is maxed out now… Exciting stuff?!

I wonder if this was the same place where Rancid Crabtree, aka Ron Kulas, popped his elk a few years back?

From: TreeWalker

I must note that he was taking a risk wearing so much cotton on the hunt. Nor sure how deep he hiked in from the trailhead but could have turned out badly if temperatures dropped and that cotton was Evan a bit damp. The Lord is good!

From: Jim McNamara

Funny how we are ready to go to war with someone who hunts or shoots an animal in high fence. Archery hunting in the wild produces plenty of problems of its own that could be used to cause its demise. Maybe we should be more concerned about that then " high fence" .

Who cares.

Did anyone else scroll down, past the pics, and read the stats/rankings on hunting license sales/revenue per state? Interesting.

14-Oct-22
WTH does Rulon Jones have to do with it?

From: Brun
14-Oct-22
sito, I glanced at the hunting license stats and while interesting, like many statistics, parts of the data are very misleading. Their percentage of residents holding a hunting license includes the entire population, many of whom are under age and not eligible. In 2020 there were over 40,000,000 children in the US 11 years of age or under. That's about 13% of the total population. Some states allow 10 year old kids to get a license, some start a little later, but either way the percentage of residents eligible to hunt that hold a license is at least 10% higher than listed across the board.

Looks like a muscle bound steroid eater to me, but what the heck do I know? Horns look weathered like they have been shed a couple years ago?

From: Grey Ghost
15-Oct-22
It looks similar to the 50-point genetic/steroid freak buck that the kid killed on a free-ranging farm in Kansas a few years ago. There was lots of speculation that it was the new non-typical world record. Turns out the buck escaped from a high fence operation about 10 miles away a month before the season started, so it didn't qualify for the record books.

I asked this before, but has anyone confirmed this was actually a high fence kill? I'm sure it was, but I haven't seen actual confirmation.

Spider Bull is freakishly ugly as well.

From: JSW
17-Oct-22
This not an elk, it is livestock from a ranch. No different than shooting a 5000# angus bull and claiming to have a world record. Hunters must stop feeding this addiction which is devastating for both hunting and the wild herds.

Just stop! Don't pay for these things, don't post pictures and work at making this socially unacceptable. Calling this a hunt does more damage to fair chase hunting than anything else we can do. JUST STOP!!!

I think GG's question above is a good one and still stands.....has it been confirmed a high fence kill?

From: JohnMC
17-Oct-22
I guess I'll look at it a little different. I'd much prefer the guy that has a ridiculous amount of money and willing to spend it on hunting, go buy a big farmed deer or elk then spending the same money leasing or buying a whole bunch of land no one else can access. They aren't fooling anyone that knows the difference between a 300" elk and 400" elk. If someone wants to raise giant genetically altered deer and elk and take someone's money to shoot it in their pasture it's not hurting me any, nor fooling many.

Haven’t seen anything that confirmed it was a high fence kill (the original article doesn’t make it clear, but I saw it was edited to say that it was likely from a high fence operation)…but sure looks like one.

John, unfortunately some 'hunting organization' ** will 'recognize' it as a 'hunting trophy'. Makes us look like clients at a whorehouse. So yeah, it is hurting guys who hunt for real.

Not my cup of tea, but could not care less if others want to do shoot tame animals. Aside from the “possible disease transmission” it’s a non issue for me. Sort of related, I called coyotes next to a high fence elk operation in eastern Colo. The place held a lot of big bulls. I heard that recently the waster supply for there elk dried up or became disabled, and a number of those bulls died. That’s really sad.

There’s a couple famous Iowa TV hunters that turned a few of those high fence does loose on there farms

This thread doesn’t even deserve a place on Bowsite. That is NOT hunting. IMO high fence operations give fair chase hunting a bad name. Horn porn at it’s finest. I’d rather shoot a 300 incher in a general license area.

I think the Spider Bull was beat to death by everyone (skeptics) to the point if it was a high fence elk it would have been proven by now?

It was amazing that team Mossback was able to sit on this bull for so long throughout the fall until the shooter could get there and legally harvest it?

From: WhattheFOC

If I were going to take a high fence elk, I’d shoot a 400” bull that could pass for natural. Impressive, but not an obvious and ridiculous fake.

Exact same thought process for fake boobs.

I think it would be great to have an Official Measurer, like Charlie Measure it. Not only would we get to see how big it is but it would be a challenge for the scorer.
