The annual Doe Slam now includes Dennis’ son Reed. On opening day he got his first archery buck and now joins us for the doe slam (when not in school).
Ever notice the years go by faster the older we get? The upside is archery seasons seem to come faster. How about the fall foliage? Let’s get ready to Rumble.
Peak foliage

Here’s a view from the first sit. So beautiful. Foliage peak.
Time does sure go by quicker the older you get! Good luck!
Great pics so far Charlie, now let's see some red arrows.
Smile speaks

Bam, right off the bat Reed connects on a nice doe. Smile says it all.
Great to watch Dennis and Reed interact while bow hunting and it brings back memories of doing it with my son 30+ years ago. “Pass it on”.
Stack em up boys.............
You may remember Dennis manages a farm for a guy who generously allows us to help manage the deer herd by shooting does early season. Last year Dennis built a walk in cooler which is a game changer for keeping deer cool. Dennis processes most of the deer and gives a few away to friends.
I also got a doe that first pm sit.
After gutting we skin and hang the deer. We stay busy.. and sleep comes easy.
Next am hunt I don’t see a deer until 9 am and then get one and see her go down.
Great stuff! Have a blast!
Dennis has to keep up with his taxidermist customers so mid day we stay busy too. Dennis owns 2 acres and put in a small food plot. There is a good amount of ag around Dennis and this buck showed up on camera. Dennis is stoked.
Next am Dennis and I get three does. Now we’re stacking the deer on the Honda and taking a few pictures.
We just finish loading up the deer and Dennis gets a call from his wife that Reed cut his finger in shop class.
Dennis’ wife was at work so he gets to be school Dad to pick up Reed to get stitches. A busy morning ratchets up big time.
Here’s a pic of Reeds pinky before stitches.
Reed is ok and Dennis reminds him that he had stitches around 10 times growing up.
Meanwhile back at the home front we got some deer to take care of. We get to work and still make the pm hunt.
We got another doe that pm and it happens to be a heart shot. Gotta love it when they fall in sight.
Beautiful
Beautiful
And now for the infamous cooler shot. Man they sure look pretty. Dennis will process 6 and we give 2 away to friends. A record doe slam.
On to the Midwest. Thx for checking the thread and I hope you all have a great season.
Looks like your having fun!
Wow! CONGRATS!
A deer’s life expectancy is pretty short around you boys! ;-)
Looks fun, minus the stitches!
PS: Dennis is after that buck now until he leaves for Iowa. Good luck Den.
Good shooting guys, congrats!
Great update on the doe harvest. Venison burger, venison stakes, venison backstraps, venison etc, etc. Yum! I remember back in the day 1960s-1970s." that if you killed a doe, you killed next years buck." Wonder what even happened to that theory?
Good times, Charlie! That cooler is surely a game changer.
I see alot of sausage in someone's future...looks like fun....jealous.
Congrats guys! Another successful doe slam!
Looks like you boys had a blast.
One more cooler pic (from last year). Everything about Dennis’ system works perfectly.
You guys are an efficient meat making machine!! Fun times.
Great job Charlie thanks for taking us along for the ride keep on keeping on Good luck Lewis
Little butter in the pan (actually a LOT of butter in the pan) -- very lightly seasoned -- rare with some vegies, baked potato and an ice cold glass of milk - YUMMMMMM!!!!!
Love this thread! Kill em guys!
Congratulations Charlie! Having good fun with good friends just never gets old does it!!
Even if we do.
Congrats on another great trip!!
You guys had a great time for sure!!
What fun with friends.
Awesome, thanks for sharing.

You guys had a great time for sure!!

Good eats too,
Robb
Way to warm up the bows for the rest of your season! Nice work boys! Best of luck in Iowa, Dennis.
Packing for whitetail tour.
Packing for whitetail tour.
Well another year has come and gone. Today I’m packing for my annual whitetail tour of the Midwest. First stop will be next week with Dennis Razza as we kick things off with the “annual doe slam”. I’ll start the 2023 version next week. This is our 9 year.
Been waiting for this!! My “tour” starts next week as well. Mass, then NY, then home to finish packing for our North Carolina move!
Did you get in “tree stand shape” this year, Charlie??
That room looks familiar... go get'em... Ed F
Looking forward to your hunt recaps!
Good luck and safe travels!
Good going men. Thanks for taking us along.
Congrats guys! Reed schooled me how to shoot at TAC earlier this year. Have a great rest of the season boys!
Deer management at its finest. Nicely done. My best, Paul
Target rich environments make for great bow hunts! Looking forward to your updates Charlie!
